obituary Jenny Worrell Oct. 13, 2012 Jenny Worrell, 92, died on Oct. 13, 2012. She was a second generation Moorestonian, born on a Moorestown farm off New Albany Road and lived there until about 14 years old. Her parents sold the farm and they moved to Third Street where Jenny grew up and graduated from Mooretown Public School. Jenny worked in a hosiery mill, met Franklin (Jim) Worrell, married him and bought their Mill Street home where Jenny resided from 1946 to June 2012. She then went into the Moorestown Lutheran Home. Jenny gave Jim two sons, Rich and Bob. Rich followed followed the path of the church and was a good
school student that played in the band, graduated and spent three years in the Navy. Got married and gave Jenny her first grandson, Rick. Rick and Heather gave gave Jenny a great-grandson and granddaughter. Bob had different ideas regarding school, but Jim made sure that he graduated. It took a girl named Carol to settle Bob down and raise a family. Bob and Carol gave Jenny another grandson, Jim, and a granddaughter, Kimberly. Kimberly went on to give Jenny three great granddaughters and Brittany gave her great-grandmother the first great-great-granddaughter. Jenny lived with three Moorestown Volunteer Firemen, (her husband and both sons)
which at times made having dinner together a difficult situation. Sunday dinners and holiday meals were usually interrupted by the fire or squad calls. While working in Maguire’s Dress Shop or Melcer’s Grocery Store, Jenny was a Burlington County Democratic Committee Women Wome n and a member of the Moorestown Fire department Ladies Auxiliary. Around the early 1970s, Jenny, being a member of the Mount Holly Moose and The Women of the Moose, was elected and served through six Lodge Executive Chairs and attend two weeks in Moose Collage in Chicago to become Senior Regnant Regnant of the Mount Holy Moose Lodge. Carew said the township spent 42 to 78 hours dealing with public safety issues, assessing damage and developing a plan. The final cleanup phase will be addressed after road and sidewalk blockages are cleared. According to a statement released on Thursday, Nov. 1, the township is cleaning up as much debris from the hurricane as quickly as possible. However, the Moorestown Mooresto wn Department of Public Works cannot address any trees that have fallen on power lines until PSE&G renders those areas safe, the release said. Public schools were closed for four days because because of possibl possible e safety concerns presented by fallen trees and wires. As of Thursday, Nov. Nov. 1, the th e only school without power was Mary E. Roberts School, Moorestown Superintendent Superinte ndent of Schools Brian Betze said. According to Betze, the elementary schools lost power and had generators, but could not be run for the length of closure. Between staffing and turning off unnecessary power, power, Betze hopes the cost from the hurricane will not put a damper on funds. Mayor John Button gave a brief update regarding damage throughout the township. A ma jority of residen residents ts experienc experienced ed power loss, while downed trees added to the damage in Moorestown, Button said. The township avoided handling downed wires. “The timetable for the return of power is in the hands hands of PSE&G,” Button said via email. According to Button, Moorestown’s public works emergency management personnel worked for days to ensure safety in the town and to make sure the roads were cleared as much as possible. saidup thethe enormous of Button cleaning the damagetask in Moorestown needs a plan including more resources than what is currently on hand. “Close communication contin-
