Mt. Whitney High School Instrumental Music
Sponsorship Drive and Fundraiser
Mt. Whitney High School
Dear Potential Patron, On behalf of the Mt. Whitney High School Band Boosters, I would like to welcome you to our band family and thank you for your interest in our students. My name is Jordan Ray and I have been the Director of Bands at Mt. Whitney High School since 2007. I am writing to you today because our band is in need of your support! The Mt. Whitney Instrumental Music Department offers students a variety of opportunities throughout the year: marching band, jazz band, symphonic band, pep band, indoor percussion, color guard, and winterguard. The band experience instills values that go far beyond the classroom such as discipline, cooperation, leadership and teamwork. Our students set high goals and put forth great focus and effort at every practice and performance. They represent our community well with their performances and the manner in which they conduct themselves at competitions and events. Sponsorship is the best way to get involved and support our students as well as providing exposure for your business, group, or venue. Your much needed sponsorship dollars will help fund equipment, uniforms, instruments, and equipment for our band students that are not financed by school funding. Many of our school owned instruments are very old and beyond repair and rehabilitation and over the last few years we have experienced significant growth in our programs. It is our goal to raise $150,000 to supply the instrumental music program with the needed instruments, uniforms, and equipment that will allow students to succeed through the performance of music. All of your donation(s) and products, services, or finances are tax exempt according to section 170 (c) (1) of the Federal Income Tax Code. The Mt. Whitney High School Band Boosters is a non profit 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization. This sponsorship proposal highlights the opportunities that are offered to our students and the different levels of sponsorship that are available. During my time as the Director of Bands, the Mt. Whitney Instrumental Music Program has been extremely active in competitions and involvement with the community. The groups have travelled to Fresno, St. Clovis, Lemoore, San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Anaheim, San Francisco, and San Diego as ambassadors for Mt. Whitney. Many people often ask me where Visalia is located and are amazed at our level of performance. It is support from organizations like yours that keep our groups active and able to perform at such a high level. Visalia is known for its musical programs and I personally find it an honor to be a representative of this fine and supportive city. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support. Sincerely, Jordan Ray Director of Bands (559) 730-7622

A Message from Principal Jeff Hohne
Friends of Mt. Whitney Instrumental Music, Thank you for taking the time to look over this “Sponsorship Drive and Fundraiser” packet. Mt. Whitney’s Instrumental Music program has made great strides in recent years under the leadership of Mr. Jordan Ray. A program that only six years ago required a half-time Band Director now offers a full array of Instrumental Music courses. Throughout the past few years, Mr. Ray’s efforts have brought significant awards and accolades for our students, most recently in San Diego at the “Heritage Music Festival” where our Instrumental Music program was awarded the “Spirit of San Diego” award for outstanding instrumental representation. But, our Instrumental Music program needs your assistance. For this program to continue to grow and provide the very best opportunities for our kids, Mr. Ray has identified three “Major Needs” with which we are asking for help. We understand that as budgets—household and business—continue to tighten there becomes less money to which we can dedicate to worthy programs like our Instrumental Music program. Please know that any contribution is greatly appreciated and will assist our kids in becoming the best they can be.
A Message from Superintendent Craig Wheaton, Ed. D.
Friends and Community Members, There are times when, as superintendent, I am asked, “What makes Visalia schools special?” My answer always includes the commitment we have made as a school district to maintaining a comprehensive educational program for all of our students including instrumental music! This commitment has not been easy to keep. Over the last four years our district budget has been reduced by $20 million. Even so, the instrumental music program is very valuable to the students and parents of Visalia. As a father I have experienced my own children’s growth and development as they attending school in Visalia and had the opportunity to enjoy our extensive instrumental music program – and they gained skills that will remain with them for a lifetime! We need to keep this valuable tradition alive. Mt. Whitney High School needs your help—please show your support!
