1. What was the problem or motivation for the new LAN at ARA? As the firm has grown, so has the network. ProLaw, Internet and intranet access, and new higher performance desktop computers have contributed to bottlenecks on ARA’s current LAN. The main goal of the IT department is to build a network with improved performance in the new buildings. They want their solution to be as cost effective as possible. They have decided to implement a switched Ethernet architecture and will replace shared media workgroups with switched workgroups. Implementing a switched infrastructure will ensure that devices on the network don’t have to share the available bandwidth. This will eliminate collisions and increase performance and efficiency 2. How will the proposed LAN infrastructure solution impact productivity for ARA? The proposed LAN infrastructure will eliminate collisions and increase performance and efficiency, thus can provide high performace of the nework and all data that needed by employees can be easily accessed. 3. How will the changes affect ARA’s employees? Will there be a positive or negative impact?
All employees can access their data easily and don’t have to face any bottleneck or slow access. There will be positive and negative impact if they use it wisely it can help easier employee’s works. But if they don’t use it wisely (shared audio or video or file which not related to work) it can cause a negative impact

How will the new LAN design affect performance of the applications? This design strategy will optimize bandwidth, providing the largest throughput for areas with heaviest traffic. Streaming server which can be accessed from client which cause heavy traffics and consumed much more bandwidth.
