Henry County Commission Chairman Elizabeth ‘B.J.’ Mathis has been elected to serve in a new capacity: as a member of the Regional Roundtable Executive Committee. The committee was established in response to the Transportation Act of 2010.

Transportation Act of 2010 takes a different approach to legislation, in that it puts the future of transportation in the voters’ hands. Elected officials from each of the state’s 12 regions will develop a list of projects that would be funded by a one percent sales tax. Each region’s proposed projects will then go on the 2012 primary elections ballot for Georgians, in each region, to vote on a tax to be used to construct those projects. In her role on the committee, Mathis will collaboratively create a draft list of projects which are both fiscally constrained by the projected revenue of the 10 year sales tax and deliverable within the 10 year time frame. But remember this: Georgians will vote on the tax in the 2012 primary elections. The tax must be rejected!

Your Support is Appreciated
The Conservative Voice of Henry County has opened a venue for news, comment and opinion that exists nowhere else. It is because of you; a steady list of people who read and submit articles sharing ideas and principles.

The Citizen says: Grab Your Wallet. If the people of Georgia are so stupid as to approve a 10-year sales tax to be administered by a group of politicians – like SPLOST - it is time to move to Alabama or even Montana.
Henry County is now into SPLOST III. Projects from SPLOST I were rolled into SPLOST II. A longer wish list of vote-buying pork was collaboratively created and rolled into SPLOST III. Our state legislature tossed the ball back to the voters. Normally that is a good thing. However, it means they knowingly created another level of budget-skimming politicians. They also allowed an increase in sales tax to fund that pork barrel scheme. It is up to the voters to reject any more taxes! No more for local pork. No more for regional pork. NO MORE. We cannot be surprised that the Queen of Pork, BJ Mathis, will sit on

this Committee. Under the disguise of saving land from development we bought Nash Farm from our general budget. Under the sham of helping future development she tried to setup a watershed land bank to specifically benefit a supporter. The list is too long to list. VOTE NO to a regional transportation tax. We will be hit from all sides by people telling us we need to saddle ourselves for 10 years with higher taxation. We will hear everyone with potential to dip a finger into that well. Every elected official will say how Henry County will win big because Mathis will represent us. VOTE NO to a regional transportation tax. Strike One: Mathis has never represented anyone except those who advance her power and position. Strike Two: Voting another tax onto ourselves is stupid. Strike Three: More levels of government, more spending, more porkbarrel, vote-buying schemes through the department of transportation. Vote NO.

Wards of the State
The rate of unemployment is staggering. Even menial jobs are not to be found. Teenagers, older workers, lay-offs. Many people cannot find work through no fault of their own. At the same time, there is a learned dependence on the State. Here we mean government – not specifically Georgia. When we do work we pay taxes on the amount of wages earned. We pay into social security, unemployment, healthcare – it would be nice to believe we are investing for our own benefit. Alas, we are bound to consider the value to society, the value we must contribute as we serve the greater good. Hey Henry, why not make those collecting unemployment checks do community service to EARN the paycheck they get. If they had to get out and work for it then maybe they would look a little harder. I have personally heard 3 people that are on unemployment say they can make more staying home than getting a minimum wage job--shame on you! I am a single mom working 2 jobs and I am tired of paying for you to sit at home on your butt. (Henry Times) When we work the contract is service for compensation. We may love the job and the people and the environment. But at the end of discussion, we work to trade our time, energy and expertise for just compensation. It is not a right to work. It is not an employer’s responsibility to hire us. As individuals each is responsible for sustaining our own lives – paying our own way. If your rate of compensation is $100, consider that $30 is removed from your check in taxes. As a producer of your own wealth, the State is entitled to 30% for the good of society. It is frustrating.

The Ides of War: 150 Years Since the Civil War Began

By TheDoctor Months before Fort Sumter in South Carolina was attacked, there were incidents that would lead to all out war between the North and the South. South Carolina had already seceded from the Union in December 1860. On Jan. 3, 1861, State troops from Georgia seize Fort Pulaski, near the mouth of the Savannah River. On Jan. 4-5, Alabama state forces seize the U.S. arsenal at Mount Vernon, near Mobile, and Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines, guarding the entrance to Mobile Bay. On Jan. 6-7, facing no opposition, Florida troops occupy the Federal arsenal at Apalachicola, and capture Fort Marion at St. Augustine. On Jan. 8, the last Southerner in President Buchanan's Cabinet, Secretary of the Interior Jacob Thompson of Mississippi, resigns. On Jan 9, The Mississippi legislature votes 84 to 15 to secede from the Union. On the same day President Buchanan"s relief ship, Star of the West, bringing reinforcements to Federal troops at Fort Sumter, fails under fire in its attempt to enter Charleston Harbor. On Jan 10, Florida secedes by a vote of 62 to 7. The same day Louisiana forces seize the Baton Rouge arsenal, and Fort Jackson and Fort St. Philip at strategic positions on the Mississippi River south of New Orleans. Then on Jan. 11, Alabama secedes by a vote of 61 to 39. The next day Jan. 12th, Florida troops take Fort Barrancas, Fort McRee, and the Pensacola Navy Yard. Then by Jan. 14th Louisiana captures Fort Pike near New Orleans. Then between Jan. 14-18, Federal troops garrison Fort Taylor at Key West, Florida, making it a strategic Union coastal base, and garrison Fort Jefferson on the Dry Tortugas Islands, west of Key West. Fort Jefferson would become a Union prison for political prisoners. Then on Jan. 19th, the Georgia legislature votes to secede 164 to 133. On Jan. 21, Five Southern U.S. Senators from secessionist states, including Jefferson Davis leave Washington to return home. Then on Jan. 24-26, Georgia seizes the Federal arsenal at Augusta and Fort Jackson near Savannah. Louisiana also seceded on the 26th by a vote of 113 to 17. Then on Jan. 28th, Fort Macomb near New Orleans falls into the hands of Louisiana troops. On Jan. 29th, Kansas with a population exceeding 100,000, more than is required under the law of May 4, 1858, is admitted to the Union as the 34th state under its Wyandotte constitution. That part of the Kansas Territory west of the 102nd meridian is not included in the state. The capital is Topeka. It is interesting to note that there have been several instances that would have started the war by the end of January 1861 while President Buchanan was still in office. He did very little to stop the build up to war and in many ways it seems he encouraged it by his methods of not seeking a way to hold the Union together. Possibly he felt that it all began because Abraham Lincoln was elected and he would let Mr. Lincoln deal with it. The clouds of war were on the horizon and they were billowing and brewing waiting to be ignited by that spark known only to man: his stupidity. This year is the 150th Anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. Each month I will cover the war as it progressed.

Expose this guy!
Peter Lewis is one of the largest benefactors of the left in America (provided $15 million to the ACLU) and is chairman of Progressive Auto Insurance. This regards Progressive Auto Insurance. This is the company with the clever television ads featuring the perky brunette actress all dressed in white. What you might not know is that the chairman of Progressive is Peter Lewis, one of the largest benefactors of the left in America. He’s your typical rich spoiled kid who took over the company from his father and apparently feels “guilty” for his success and now dedicates himself to making it impossible for anyone else to become wealthy. Between 2001 and 2003, Lewis funneled $15 million to the ACLU, the group most responsible for destroying what’s left of America’s Judeo-Christian heritage. Indeed, Lewis is himself a ACLU member. One of the ACLU projects he earmarked his funds for was an effort to sue school districts who have drug testing policies. In other words, this man wants teachers to be able to use drugs without fear of exposure. I wonder what he would think if all his own employees came to work drugged out every day.

Lewis also gave $12.5 million to MoveOn.org and American Coming Together, two key components of the socialist left. The former group is perhaps the main group used by the Obama forces to organize their activists; the latter group is a 527 political action group that essentially served as a front for the SEIU union thugs who ran ACORN. His funding for these groups was conditional on matching contributions from George Soros, the international socialist who finances much of the Obama political network. It’s disturbing that Lewis made a fortune as a result of capitalism but now finances a progressive movement that threatens to destroy the free enterprise system. He reminds me somewhat of Armand Hammer, the former head of Occidental Petroleum who did business with Joseph Stalin and became his good friend, in the same time period Stalin was executing businessmen all over the USSR. What angers me further is the way this company is targeting television shows watched by conservatives such as Fox News. Peter Lewis is making a fortune off unsuspecting conservative Americans so that he can change/destroy our country. He’s banking on no one finding out who he is. I think it’s time we expose this clown. http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/peterlewis.asp

U.S. CONCENTRATION CAMPS FEMA AND THE REX 84 PROGRAM
There are over 600 prison camps in the United States, all fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards, but they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States. http://www.flyingsnail.com/Dahbud/femaconcentrationcamps.html The Citizen did not locate this topic at Snopes.com. Nor did Snopes.com return pertinent articles on “martial law + FEMA”, “US concentration camp”, or “relocation camps.” A Google search for “American concentration camps” produced YouTube videos and an assortment of page hits: One reference, LibertyForLife.com, also carries the message that President George W. Bush orchestrated the 9/11 attacks. Another Google search for “REX 84” provides a long list of page hits such as Rex 84: FEMA's Blueprint for Martial Law in America as well as YouTube and Google Video showing the concentration camps.

There is sufficient circumstantial evidence to believe there are US military options already on paper for imposition of martial law. No existing law such as the Posse Comitatus Act (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posse_Comitatus_Act) that would be left intact in such a case. If you want to check it out, here is the list of alleged Georgia camp locations:
Camilla, Mitchell County - FEMA facility on mount Zion road aprox. 5.7 miles south of Camilla. From Camilla, take Hwy 19 south, go 5.4 miles from 37/19 Junction to Mount Zion Road, turn left (east) on Mount Zion Road. Not manned or staffed yet. Ft. Benning - Rex 84 Program Emergency custodial facility east of Columbia, near Georgia/Alabama state line. Prisoners may be brought in via Lawson Army airfield. Morgan, Calhoun County - FEMA facility. Take I-75 Exit 32 to 300 South to Albany; then Hwy 234 to Morgan; go through Morgan on Hwy 45 South. Facility is 1.5 miles on right (west) side of Hwy 45. Fully manned and staffed, but no prisoners yet. Oglethorpe, Macon County - FEMA facility 5 miles from Montezuma, 3 miles from Oglethorpe, on west side of Hwy 49. No staff or prisoners yet. Unadilla, Macon County - FEMA facility on East Railroad Street 1.5 miles from Unadilla on County Rd 230. Plunket Road leads into the facility. Manned and staffed, but no prisoners yet.
