The Bad Weather Shelter Ministry served many this past winter season. Many nights the shelter was completely filled. More families than in years past came, found shelter and were helped to connect with those who could provide the services they needed. We want to thank:  Andy Waldner-Gourash who, along with Wayne Walker headed up the BWS effort, and Kim Dorman who helped coordinate the BWS signups for nights Pasadena Covenant manned the shelter. Andy and Wayne faithfully helped each group who served the Wednesday nights the BWS was open.  The groups that came to work the nine Wednesdays in January and February and provide food and support for all the guests and staff the night they worked.  The individuals who were willing to help (on short notice) the Wednesday nights the shelter was weather activated.  Those who participated in the Cook Off, providing delicious recipes that could be used at the BWS by groups from our church.  All who donated lasagnas, coffee, and money to help cover the needs the nights Pasadena Covenant manned the shelter.  Doreen Rudder and Jose Luis Guardado, who coordinated with the ECPAC staff to help the shelter run smoothly, efficiently and to make sure things were ready on Sunday mornings for worship and hospitality. - The Peace and Justice Ministry Team

Weekly Programs
“Oikas”: Sunday Mornings, 9 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
“Oikas” is the Greek work for House. On Sunday Mornings, we come to the House of God to dive into God’s word through authentic worship and relevant Biblical teaching. Oikas is a place where we can connect with each other and with God in a deep and authentic way.

“Selah”: Wednesday Night Worship and Small Groups, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
“Selah” is a great starting point for plugging into PCSM! “Selah” is a word that is used throughout the book of Psalms to remind us to “Pause” or “Stop and listen” and that’s exactly what we want to do on Wednesday nights! At Selah we take a break from our busy week to play crazy games, worship though song, and get to know each other on a deeper level in gender and age specific small groups.

Cross-Cultural Communication Specialists’ Praise & Prayer Requests
Bob and Koleen French are cross-cultural workers in the Philippines with World Team. They evangelize, train, and mentor Filipinos in church multiplication. On Catanduanes Island (1984-86; 1991-96) they trained poor fishermen and farmers as pastors and church planters. In Naga City (1999 -2007) they worked with businessmen and professionals to establish the Naga Community In Christ cell church, now multiplying to 5th generation cells. They share a passion to find better ways to evangelize and train Filipinos from Junia, Lisa, Bob, Koleen, Debbie all walks of life to multiply disciples and churches. In 2007 the Frenches moved to Cainta, part of the sprawling Manila metropolis. Until 2011 they traveled regularly to train and mentor Filipino leaders in principles of church multiplication. The Frenches found that when people are boosted in their confidence as leaders through practical training, they often start an evangelistic discovery Bible study with inspiring results. In 2011, Bob was diagnosed with Stage IV prostate cancer. Unable to travel extensively, Bob focused on writing Bible discovery guides and helping with Manila-based seminars. This year (2013) he is involved in facilitating an on-line evangelism module required of all World Team workers. He continues to help teach the Jonathan Training, a 2-week intensive course in church multiplication principles held in Manila. Koleen serves as Director of Administration for World Team Philippines, overseeing finances and mission property. She also manages care for her mother (89 years) who has been with the Frenches since 2007.

Bob with his editors at Church Strengthening Ministries.

Praises:  For the privilege of teaching and training in the Philippines in spite of health challenges.  For terrific co-workers and joy as the Frenches continue in God’s lifelong call for them.  For God’s mercy and strength displayed in Bob’s life. He has a good exercise routine and keeps a strict anti-cancer diet. This year, like last year, he has no cancer activity outside the prostate gland. Prayer Requests:  For “Juan” and his neighbors who studied the Bible but then stopped. They had a lot of trouble reading and comprehending. Bob has an audio recording of Genesis he wants to try with them.  For the Lord to confirm whether the Frenches should visit the USA as a family, something they have not done 2006.
