General Services Department
City Hall, 4970 City Hall Boulevard, North Port, FL 34286 The Department of General Services’ mission is to provide customers communitybased programs, customer-focused services, and technology driven information by a highly talented workforce to ensure the citizens of North Port enjoy a viable and sustainable quality of life. The Department’s services and programs are delivered through the divisions of Human Resources/Risk Management, Parks & Recreation, Social Services, and Information & Technology.

Planning, Zoning & Engineering Department
City Hall, 4970 City Hall Boulevard, North Port, FL 34286 The Planning, Zoning & Engineering Department advances the North Port community’s vision. The Department accomplishes this by providing quality engineering and oversight services for roads and transportation, storm water, environment, land and property rights, and inspection of public and private sector development for compliance with City code. The Department also strives to keep a sharp focus on achieving a successful balance between economic sustainability and environmental stewardship. The Department also focuses on current planning and long range planning and works to ensure a high quality and connected way of life for North Port. The Storm Water Management Division has a dual goal that requires maintaining a delicate balance between two equally important priorities: (1) ensuring that the public and private sectors use the best design and management practices to control the flow of water in order to reduce flooding potential, and (2) preserving and protecting water quality and quantity in this same system to ensure a reliable source of water for the City.
City Hall, 4970 City Hall Boulevard, North Port, FL 34286 The City Clerk’s Office realizes that the citizens are the heart of the community and strives to be value-driven and dedicated to responsive, respectful and courteous customer service. The City Clerk and the Deputy City Clerk are Charter Officers and are appointed by the North Port City Commission. The Clerk is the custodian of all official records of the City. The City Clerk serves as clerk to the City Commission, is the recorder of all its official actions, prepares minutes for Advisory Boards and Committees, serves as the election official, attests all written contracts and instruments on behalf of the City, administers oaths and countersigns all checks for payment.
Police Department
4980 City Hall Boulevard, North Port, FL 34286 The North Port Police Department provides the community with the highest level of law enforcement and crime prevention possible and to protect life and property; preserve the peace; prevent, reduce, and deter crime and the fear of crime; enforce the law fairly; protect individual rights; and, provide a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
City Hall, 4970 City Hall Boulevard, North Port, FL 34286 The City of North Port has a Commission/Manager form of government in which the City Commission appoints a City Manager to run the day to day operations of the city. As a charter officer, the City Manager answers to the City Commission. The City Manager’s Office recognizes the importance of accountability and fosters a work environment among employees that is outcome based, principle centered and customer focused. The City Manager’s Office also includes the Economic Development Division and the Community Outreach Division.
Public Works Department
1930 West Price Boulevard, North Port, FL 34286 The Public Works Department efficiently maintains the public infrastructure and provides services to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our residents. Public Works is responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient passage of traffic on the City’s 822 miles of roads, bridges, sidewalks and bikeways. It is also responsible for maintaining and repairing storm drains, canals and other water control structures to protect homes and infrastructure from standing or flowing stormwater. Public Works also ensures the integrity of the potable water supply for customers whenever water is withdrawn from waterways for potable water uses. The Solid Waste District, which is part of the Public Works Department, has a mission to ensure the safety and health of our citizens through the proper and efficient collection and disposal of solid waste.
Finance Department
City Hall, 4970 City Hall Boulevard, North Port, FL 34286 The primary mission of the Finance Department is to preserve the financial integrity of the City of North Port, while assuring the availability of funds to accomplish the City’s goals. The Finance Department’s primary areas of service are finance, budgeting, accounting, and purchasing. Financial responsibilities include budgeting, accounts payable, payroll, investment management, debt management, district and capital assessment management, and oversight of the City’s annual budget.
Utilities Department
6644 Price Boulevard, North Port, FL 34291 North Port Utilities operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide and distribute a reliable supply of quality, safe drinking water and a wastewater collection system that meets the needs of our customers and respects and enhances our environment. We have over 18,000 connections that service approximately 40,000 customers in the City of North Port and unincorporated Sarasota County.
North Port Fire Rescue
Fire Rescue Station 81, 4980 City Center Boulevard, North Port, FL 34286 The North Port Fire Rescue provides exceptional public safety services in a safe, compassionate, and professional manner. Fire Rescue’s duties include fire suppression, advanced life support, emergency medical services, disaster preparedness, response and recovery, and fire prevention functions. The District provides emergency services to the City of North Port, and - under interlocal and mutual aid agreements - to portions of unincorporated Sarasota County and Charlotte County.
