A message from the President…..

Hello all, We have been busy during the off season. The 2012 season is going to be HUGE for baseball and softball alike! We are making our league into more of a travel league with better competition, more games and more choices as to who we will play! On Wednesday, November 16, 2011 we will meet with the following towns to discuss expanding our current BASEBALL interleague to POSSIBLY play regular season games with them: Crestwood, Orland, Midlothian, Oak Forest, Country Club Hills, Merrionette Park, Hometown, Lemont, Lockport & Tinley Park This is not set in stone. We will meet and see if it geographically makes sense. Our families have spoken and we hear what you want. For a fraction of what it cost to play so called “Travel Baseball” you will have the opportunity to play just as many games with just as good of competition! This is a HUGE move and we are confident that it will strengthen our league and make HHYBS the power house that it once was! On a side note…..

Hello HHYBS Families, Now that we are in the off-season for baseball and softball, we thought it would be nice to have some NEW & EXCITING Fundraisers!!! We would love to get everyone together during the "down-time" - so we have come up with some fun get-togethers. 1st fundraiser - will be a SMOKER/BEANBAG night....date TBD... looking for a date in December?? - this night will consist of 2 beanbag tournaments (details to follow) and while that is going on - on the side will be dice and card games along with raffles. 2nd fundraiser - for the WOMEN of HHYBS - BUNCO NIGHT in January!!! This will be a lot of fun. I will be coordinating this night along with the help of Melissa Stiegel. We are really looking forward to having fun!! So as soon as a date is picked, I will let you know...start spreading the news on this one ladies, friends, coworkers, neighbors, whomever you would like to invite. I think it would be a fun night for the WOMEN of HHYBS to get-together while the men are home with the kids....Raffles and split-thepot as well. 3rd Fundraiser - will be for the men - POKER NIGHT in February - date and details to follow. But we will make this very reasonable - Just a night of poker. Along with SPLIT-THE-POT. Start spreading the word on this night Gentlemen!! **ALSO, I am putting together a CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY Fundraiser - get-together for the FAMILY. It will be an afternoon thing for the entire family or whoever would like to go - mom and kids, dad and kids...etc...I will have all details before Thanksgiving. Anyone interested in helping out with the BEANBAG night or POKER night, please email me. Dear Friend: The Hickory Hills Youth Baseball / Softball Association located in Hickory Hills, IL has served the community as a Pony Youth Baseball organization for over 54 years. Every year we have close to 400 players from several surrounding towns that participate in our Baseball and Softball programs. Some of these towns are Palos Hills, Bridgeview, Justice, Summit, Willow Springs, Hickory Hills, Burbank, Bedford Park and even Chicago! With today’s economy we are seeing more of our families struggling. The economic problem is trickling down and we have many children who can’t afford to play. In order to keep our children interested in the sport and also to keep them involved in an organized activity, we are asking for your help. We do not receive outside funding from any park districts, cities, counties or state entities. We are fully funded by registration fees, fundraising activities, and generous donations from businesses like you. We are a non profit organization so all donations are tax deductible. HHYBS will never turn a child away whose family can’t afford the fees. This is why we have come to you for support. Youth Baseball programs impact the lives and development of many children in our communities, and this year especially we want to make sure our children have the opportunity again to play.
