Introduction
Northern Power Generation Company Limited (NPGCL) is a Public Limited Company,
incorporated under the Companies Ordinance 1984, under certificate of incorporation dated
October 15, 1998; having its generation facility at different locations of Province of Punjab
Pakistan. Vision and Strategy of NPGCL is to become a leading Power Generation Company to
meet the energy requirement of the customers through reliable, environmental friendly and
sustainable supply of Electricity without compromising on Safety, quality and plant integrity.
NEPRA granted Generation License on J uly 01, 2002 pursuant to NEPRA Act 1997, which is
valid for 25 years. Company generated electricity and transmit to NTDC under an agreed rate as
per NEPRA tariff that includes the Power Purchase Cost.
Installed Capacity Of NPGCL (GENCO-III)
The following are the power plants falling under administrative control of NPGCL (GENCO-
III),
1. Thermal Power Station Muzaffargarh.
3 x 210 Steam Unit Russian Made =630 MW
2 x 200 Steam Unit Chinese Made =400 MW
1 x 320 Steam Unit Chinese Made. =320 MW
Total Capacity = 1350 MW
2. GTPS FAISALABAD.
4 X 25 MW Gas Turbine Units open Cycle = 100 MW
4 GTs with CCP = 147 MW
Total Capacity = 247 MW
3. SPS FAISALABAD.
2 x 66 Steam Units =132 MW
Total Capacity = 132 MW
4. NGPS PIRANGHAIB, MULTAN.
4 X 65 Steam Units =260 MW
Total Capacity = 260 MW
5. GTPS SHAHDARA.
4 x 14.75 First Gas Turbine =59 MW
2 x 13 Westinghouse GTs =26 MW

Agreement Details of NPGCL
(i) FSA:
Furnace Oil Supply agreement has been signed between NPGCL and Pakistan State Oil
Company Limited (PSO) on dated 16.09.2009. The contract will initially be valid for a
period of fifteen (15) years from the effective date and thereafter will be subject to
extension/ revision through mutual consent of the parties.
(ii) GSA
SNGPL rejected the request for GSA of even 10 MMCFD with TPS Muzaffargarh due
to their system constraints. GSA to supply 25 MMCFD gas to Faisalabad exists but not
being provided by SNGPL.
(iii) PPA
(a) Signed on March 1999 for a term of 10 years.
(b) The draft of Amended PPA has been prepared on the same pattern as per existing
PPA between GENCO-I and NTDCL.
(c) Draft PPA is under scrutiny and vetting of NTDCL’s Finance, Legal and Technical
Section.
(iv) TARIFF
(a) Approved by NEPRA on 02.05.2006.
(b) Revised Heat Rate Test of TPS M/Garh has been completed
(c) Tariff will be revised accordingly after NEPRA’s approval.

FUEL SUPPLY
Total fuel storage capacity is 2,32,000 M.T. Furnace Oil is transported by tank lorries and
Railway wagons up to decanting system of the Power Station.
Natural gas is being provided by M/s SNGPL.
WATER SUPPLY
35 Tube wells having capacity of 110 cusecs, on both sides of Taliri/Ganash Canal are providing
cooling water to the Power House as well as to the Colony by means of under ground pipelines.
CIVIL FACILITIES
COLONY
The Colony of the Power Station is across the Mehmood Kot road stretched over an area of
262Acres. 1466No. of residences of different categories have been constructed & approximately
1300 employees are living in the colony. All basic utilities like Natural Gas, Water supply,
Electric supply and telephone lines are available.
HEALTH
To upkeep the basic right of health, Wapda Fortified Dispensary is providing all the medical
facilities. Serious cases are referred to DHQ Muzaffargarh and Nishtar Hospital Multan.
EDUCATION
Education is being provided up to matriculation level in two schools for boys and girls
separately. Moreover 4 busses are plying to Muzaffargarh city for college going children.
RECREATION
Civic facilities like recreation centres, play grounds, grassy parks, shopping centres, children
parks, PCOs / internet Café, are available in Housing colony. Besides, shopping trips to Multan
and Muzaffargarh are on regular basis.
