The role of a nurse is dynamic. They must care for their patient in all aspects of their life, tending to their past and helping them find a healthier future, taking the wellbeing of the patient into account before their own. When a patient is in need a nurse will be there to care for them. Whether it be physical, mental, or social problems that trouble the client, the nurse must be able to care for and diagnose each one as an individual. What makes this job unique compared to other health care positions is that the nurse sees the patient the most, he/she interacts with the patient day in and day out, being a reassuring sight that help has arrived. With the elevated amount of patient contact, the nurse must be respectful of the patient’s rights and of the prescriber’s decisions. The patient has the power to decide what they want out of their health care team, what treatments to take, and when it is time to say goodbye. Respecting their wishes is of the utmost importance, and of almost equal importance is the prescriber’s decision. It is fine for a nurse to question the actions of those above them, as long as they remain tactful and maintain their level of respect for that individual. The actions the nurse takes can make a large impact on the patients’ health and well-being, making the nurse responsible for every decision he/she makes. Holding oneself accountable is something that nurses must take very seriously. If something good or bad happens, they need to be able to own up to it and face the consequences as a professional would. Even though a nurse may work in one specific field within a hospital, they are a member of the surrounding community by caring for its members. It is up to the nurse to

My Nursing Philosophy go outside their comfort zone and make a difference in the surrounding community through extra service and devotion. As a member of the health care team, they make a huge impact on how a community views their health care program and hospital. The nurse must make sure that their view is a positive one by feeling connected to the area they work in. Keeping the idea of becoming a caregiver, having respect, and being part of a
