OBJECTIVES:
To improve the rice production through improve farming practices and adoption of Palay Check
System.
Specifically it aims to:
1. Institutionalize of Palay Check as an extension system to improve the national / regional yield and
productivity in irrigated areas.
2. Improved farmers’ knowledge and upgrade their skills in rice production using Palay Check
System.
3. Attain an at least and increment of 5 percent in production through the adoption of Palay Check.
METHODOLOGY:
FFS Duration
The FFS shall be start on June 2016 and end on October 2016. It will conducted for a period of
three cropping seasons. First season will be 20 meetings, 2 nd & 3rd seasons, 4-6 meetings. Second and 3 rd
season used to monitor and evaluate progress on the key checks achieved and corresponding yield.
The first season training is from 2 weeks before seed sowing to two weeks after harvesting. FFS
day is once a week, five (5) hours (7:00 AM – 12:00 NN). Extra time to be used to monitor participant’s field
enrolled under the FFS.

Learning Process / Methodology
The FFS is conducted in a “Non-Formal Adult Education” method, experiential and participatory
learning techniques. Most of the activities are focused directly to the farm allowing farmers to conduct AgroEcosystem Analysis, process results and solved problems encountered in the field and apply (8) Key
checks.
To gain deeper knowledge and understanding on the Palay Check System and other related issues
of their interest, topics will be discussed to augment participant’s experiences and discoveries made in the
FFS.
The topics of each meeting are selected based on the developmental crop stages of the techno
demo rice crop.
Ballot box is exercised at the onset of the FFS and before the culmination of the training.
Team Building exercise’s among farmers is an important feature of the training process. At least
one group dynamic activity each FFS Day.
