Art Imig retiring after 48 years
itics and sports thanks to the four championship golf courses at The American Club Resort. Imig said Jake Toman will take on a leading role at the business. He emphasized there will be no other changes in staffing or store operations. In fact, Imig is going forward with the mid-October food and wine weekend that has featured chefs and wine experts from across the country and drawn guests from all surrounding states. “Our goal for 104 years has been to deliver quality merchandise and service. These fellows exemplify that spirit and have the characteristics we’ve always had in our family,” Imig said. “They’re very open and honest. They appreciate people. And, they’ll continue what we stand for. It’s great for the city, the Shops at Woodlake, our family and the Toman family.”

KOHLER – After working 48 years at the men’s clothing business founded by his grandfather in 1909, Art Imig recently decided it was time to do something different. The only question was whether the right person or people could be found to take over the Art Imig’s store at the Shops at Woodlake. Imig found his answer with two Fond du Lac businessmen, Ric and Jake Toman, a father-son team who own DDT Clothing, which specializes in retail promotions and other milestone sales events. The Tomans came in to assist with a store closing sale and opted instead to buy the business. “My brother, Bob and I had been talking about my exit strategy. We worked with Ric and Jake in 2009 for our 100th anniversary sale and we’ve stayed in touch. We had several stores from surrounding states contact us, but things just didn’t sit right. When we decided to do the retirement sale, I kiddingly dropped it on them, ‘You guys should think about buying the store’ and Jake said, ‘I’ll let you know tomorrow.’” “Things really fell into place from there,” said Imig, who also owns a dry cleaning store in Sheboygan with his brother, Bob. “Ric and Jake are two of the nicest guys I’ve ever met and to find a father

and son who are interested in carrying on a 104-year-old tradition and have the passion for menswear as we do is really exciting.” The Tomans have purchased Art Imig’s Clothing. Art Imig’s, Inc., which owns and operates a dry cleaning, laundering and tailoring business will continue to be under Art Imig. Bob Imig will remain with Art Imig Clothing, handling day-to-day operations. “He’s really looking forward to carrying on the family name,” Art Imig added. To mark the occasion, the Imigs and Tomans decided to go forward with the retirement sale in Art’s honor at their Kohler store, 795D Woodlake Road. It opened to the public starting Thursday. Imig, 70, started working in the family business in 1965 after graduating from Beloit College. “Working with my grandfather, dad, family and a great team of employees has been very rewarding. Anyone in business as long as we have had to do a few things right along the way,” Imig said. “I have four children and nine grandchildren. It’s about time I start spending more time with my grandkids and traveling, which my wife and I love to do.” The Art Imig’s store at the Shops at Woodlake Kohler opened in March 1987 and has seen some of the biggest names in business, pol-

Harvest for the Hungry meal harvests dollars for United Way
By Nancy Juske You loved this event last year so you’ll be glad to hear that the Kohler Hospitality and Real Estate Group, and new co-sponsor Sargento, are again hosting Harvest for the Hungry during the Kohler Co.’s 2013 United Way Employee Campaign. This prelude to the Kohler Food & Wine Experience premiers Tuesday, Oct. 15 “under the big top” at the Shops at Woodlake serving lunch and dinner for $10 per person to benefit the United Way of Sheboygan County. What’s so special about these lunches and dinners? It’s the fantastic menu featuring signature dishes from Kohler Hospitality’s family of fine restaurants, all made with Sargento cheeses. You can build your own plate from the Fall Harvest menu for lunch or dinner. And this is definitely not ordinary buffet fare. Start with Riverbend’s Fall Corn & Wild Rice Chowder. Graze on the Immigrant Room’s goat cheese, romaine and roasted beet salad. Enjoy Whistling Straits’ pork roast with apple, sausage and parsnip stuffing. Satisfy your sweet tooth with apple cranberry pie with cheddar streusel from the American Club pastry kitchen. For the kids there is even Wisconsin 5-Cheese Macaroni & Cheese. And much, much more from the “you have to see it to believe it” menu. Lunch will be served at three dining sessions – 11 a.m. to noon, noon to 1 p.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. Dinner will also offer three dining sessions at 5 to 6 p.m., 6 to 7 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. All meals are served cafeteria style and carry outs will be available. Lunch or dinner is $10 per person, children 5 to 12 are $5 and those 5 and younger are free. A Family of Four Dinner Special for $25 – two adults, two children – is offered for the evening servings. Raffles and entertainment by local performers will be featured throughout the sessions as well as United Way presentations. Beer and wine sales will be offered at the evening sessions. Tickets will be available at the door. I can’t think of a better way to satisfy your inner gourmet AND support the United Way campaign through the creative efforts of the Kohler Co. Hospitality and Real Estate Group and Sargento.
Nancy Jusky is campaign coordinator for United Way of Sheboygan County.

Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock met on May 12, 1975, on the first day of rehearsals for “Jesus Christ Superstar” in Sydney, Australia; they became instant friends and collaborators. They toured with Rod Stewart, and broke into the U.S. market in 1980 with the song “Lost in Love,” which became the fastest selling single in the world. Their second single, “All Out of Love,” went up the charts even faster. Seven top five singles later, Air Supply had equaled The Beatles’ run of consecutive top five singles. constant touring has taken them to Dubai and Indonesia, Mexico and Trinidad, as well as crisscrossing the U.S. The rest of the Distinguished Guest Series’ 70th Season includes the high-energy Broadway hit Five Guys Named Moe on February 14, 2014, and world-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman in concert with Rohan DeSilva on piano on April 5, 2014. Four Sheboygan North teens arrested for vandalizing a Kohler home
The Sheboygan Press reported on September 30 that four Sheboygan North High School students were arrested for allegedly causing extensive damage to the home of Kevin and Catherine Delahunt on the night of September 22. (Delahunt serves as municipal court judge for the City of Sheboygan and Village of Kohler). The Delahunt’s property was doused with bleach, motor oil, vinegar, eggs, sardines, mustard, barbeque sauce, relish and flour and several other items according to police records obtained by The Press. Eggs and birdseed were also found in the intake vents of vehicles parked at the home, and other items including lawn furniture were damaged. The Press reported that an investigation is ongoing, but no possible motive was mentioned in the police report. The teens face an ordinance citation which would probably include a fine and restitution. They will not be criminally charged.

“Lost in Love” was named Song of the Year in 1980, and the duo went on to sell more than 100 million albums Today, Air Supply continues to create new music and delight their enthusiastic and dedicated fans around the world. In 2013 their

Kohler High School girls freshman and varsity basketball teams cancelled this season
The Kohler Villager learned from an October 4 article in The Sheboygan Press that Kohler High School canceled the varsity and freshmen girls teams for the season. (The Press appeared to have learned of this development during a September 20 Central Lakeshore Conference meeting attended by Kohler School’s athletic director, Doug Bocchini. The Press article states that Kohler and Sheboygan Christian have agreed to form a junior varsity co-op team comprised of freshmen and sophomores, and the school will determine after this season what direction it will take as to whether, or how long, the coop will continue in the future. Meanwhile, some Kohler parents and coaches have been working with Bocchini in creating in feeder programs for younger girls in an effort to get more girls interested in basketball.

“Make sure doors are locked at night!” cautions resident after “Peeping Tom” incident
The Kohler Villager received a tip from residents that a suspicious male was seen peering into the back door of a family home on Sir Howards Circle on the night of Saturday, September 28. According to the victim, who was contacted by The Kohler Villager, her 16 year-old daughter had gotten up to get a drink of water in the kitchen at approximately 11:30 p.m., when she turned around and saw a man standing on a deck at the back of the home peering at her through a door. The man fled through the back yard after realizing he had been seen. The girl ran and woke her parents and the police were called. The suspect was described by the 16 year-old as being a tall white male, approximately midforties in age, six feet tall or more in height with brown “scraggly” hair, long nose, and wearing an army jacket, jeans, and a red shirt. There have been unconfirmed reports by other Village residents of a suspicious male seen in the surrounding area and on the Old Plank Road Trail in past weeks. The Sir Howard Circle resident urged others on her Facebook page to be sure to lock all doors at night.
