#FLEADH2013

TUESDAY 20TH - Sunday 25th

August 2013 PROGRAMME OF EVENTS

Céad Míle Fáilte
Teachtaireacht ónár gcathaoirleach, Eddie Copeland
Is deacair a chreidbheáil go bhfuil 23ú Féile Ard Eoin buailte linn agus go bhfuil sé bliain iomlán ó rinne muid scoth féile do Bhéal Feirste. Cé go bhfuil srianta airgeadais orainn, d'éirigh linn clár imeachtaí a eagrú a mbainfidh an pobal sult as ag deireadh seachtaine fada sin Mhí Lúnasa. Cad é na buanna ar leith a bhaineann le Fleadh Ard Eoin? Ní deacair sin a fhreagairt: an pobal féin! Níl a sárú le fáil i mBéal Feirste nó in áiteanna eile - na slóite sin a thagann le chéile agus a chaitheann tréan ama go deonach ar son an phobail. Ábhar mór bróid atá ann a rá gurb as Ard Eoin thú! Ar na na himeachtaí is mó atá ar an chlár tá imeachtaí do pháistí eagraithe ar nós na Maidineacha Craic do Theaghlaigh, Gig Rigs, Laetha Spóirt agus Campa Iontach Sacair le ceachtanna ó Joe Gormley is ó Liam Boyce as Cliftonville. Arís eile, ní iarrfar airgead isteach ar na coirmeacha ceoil amuigh ach beidh muid buíoch do dheonacháin ag an gheata le cuidiú linn costais áirithe a íoc. Níl de dhíth anois ach dea-aimsir le cuidiú linn an sult is mó a bhaint as Fleadh 2013. As an chuidiú maoinithe agus as an urraíocht, tá coiste Fhleadh Ard Eoin an-bhuíoch go deo do.

A Hundred Thousand Welcomes
A Welcome Message from our Chairperson, Eddie Copeland
It’s hard to believe that this is the 23rd year of the Fleadh in Ardoyne, and that twelve months have flown by since the last time this community made our Fleadh -- which is undoubtedly a highlight of all the festivals across the city. Budgetary restraints from funders have made life more difficult for the organising committee, all the organisation of the Fleadh is carried out without any paid workers and no permanent base. It has been a struggle to gather up the necessary funding to make this year happen but we believe we’ve managed to put together a programme of events that we are sure everyone in the community will find something to enjoy over the long Bank Holiday weekend in August. So, what makes Ardoyne Fleadh so special? The answer is simple; it’s you, the people. Nowhere in Belfast or further afield do people come together in such numbers and give unselfishly of themselves to the betterment of the entire community. You should be proud to say that you are from Ardoyne. Highlights this year include an array of activities for people of all ages, with the emphasis put on Children’s Events such as Family Fun Mornings, Gig Rigs, Fun Days, Fun Days and a Fantastic Football Summer Camp featuring sessions from Cliftonville Players Joe Gormley and Liam Boyce. Our three nights of outdoor concerts yet again have no admission charge, however we will be asking for a donation at the gate to help cover our costs. So lets hope the weather is as good as every and that we all thoroughly enjoy #Fleadh2013.

19 year old Irish singer-songwriter Jordan O'Keefe has catapulted himself into one of the hottest properties in the UK music scene. He memorably set Britain’s Got Talent on fire this year with his memorable audition of One Directions 'Little Things', wowing the judges and even causing Simon Cowell to predict 'very big things' for the likable 19 year old Derry native with the winning smile. Big things did indeed happen as he cruised through the semi's, before 13 million people tuned in to watch his nerve wracking battle in the final.  He didn’t win, but neither did Olly Murs, One Direction or JLS and their careers don’t exactly suffer, did they? With over 4 million Youtube views and over 116,000 followers on Twitter, big things definitely do look set to happen for our Jordan. He has already duetted with Ed Sheeran and has several members of One Direction following him on Twitter and since coming off the show he has been in high demand with appearances at shows and festivals across the UK and Ireland, including supporting slots for JLS and a memorable appearance for the G8 summit.

CONOR SCOTT

YOUR WEEKEND STARTS HERE ARDOYNE FLEADH OPEN AIR CONCERTS
withthe

After his Blind Audition on BBC Programme ‘The Voice’, the 18-year-old joined Team Danny from The Script, after wowing the coaches singing Ellie Goudling’s Starry Eyed. Conor sailed through his battle against duo ‘Smith & Jones’ and Conor reached the knockout stages of the show. He admitted that the show had left him with more fans than ever before, and plenty of girls chasing after him! Conor has taken time off from the studio where he is recording some new material for his forthcoming album to appear in his hometown at this year’s Ardoyne Fleadh. Aidan Logan is a singer-songwriter and guitar player from Belfast. His music ranges from slow ballads and love songs to upbeat happy numbers. Aidan has been playing guitar and attempting to write for about 10/11 years, clinging to the belief that practice makes perfect, and you improve with age. His main focus is song-writing, but has recently begun performing more with his new band.
