Course Title: Course Length: Resources: Culture in English Speaking Countries 3 months / 3 study units School’s platform (Optima, Moodle), chat platform (msn, skype), net conferencing
Pedagogical Approach: Constructivism Course Aim Students will develop their knowledge of the different cultures within the English speaking world. Through studying this course students will be more aware of cultural issues and their effects on communication.
Study Programme: 1. Students Introduce themselves Students upload video clips introducing themselves onto the study platform. (if students don’t have the technology they can upload a file with a short description of themselves with a photo)
2. Discussion on what English speaking countries you and which aspects of those
countries. School’s learning platform based. Lasting for one week.
Students request what country to study, but study groups defined by teacher.
3. Individual Research Students research on the internet, from traditional resources and draw on their own experience. Findings are uploaded onto the learning platform .
4. Group Discussion Students will share their findings in an on line chat format (msn / skype). The chat is 2 class hours long at a fixed time, with the teacher present.
5. Group PowerPoint Presentation
Conference meeting where the students give a presentation. The slides are up loaded onto the school’s learning platform.
