Job  Description

The  School  of  Education  at  Iowa  State  University  seeks  applications  for  open  rank,  tenure track  faculty  positions  in  the  Educational  Administration  Program.  The  program  offers master  and  doctoral  degrees  as  well  as  licensure  programs  for  principals  and superintendents.  Iowa  State  University  especially  seeks  candidates  who  are  interested  in contributing  to  the  diversity  and  excellence  of  the  academic  community  through  their research,  teaching,  and  outreach.  The  successful  candidates  will  teach  graduate  courses  in educational  administration,  advise  graduate  students,  engage  in  a  robust  scholarly  program, and  build  upon  existing  connections  with  local  school  systems.  In  addition  to  the aforementioned,  candidates  at  the  Associate  Professor  or  Full  Professor  rank  will  mentor junior  faculty  and  recruit  students.   Iowa  State  University  (www.iastate.edu)  is  a  AAU-­member,  comprehensive  land  grant, Carnegie  Doctoral/Research  Extensive  University.  It  enrolls  more  than  33,000  students  and is  committed  to  achieving  inclusive  excellence  through  a  diverse  workforce.  Iowa  State  is responsive  to  the  needs  of  dual-­career  couples  and  is  dedicated  to  supporting  work-­life balance  through  an  array  of  flexible  policies.   The  university  is  located  in  Ames,  Iowa,  a  community  of  nearly  60,000,  which  is  frequently recognized  with  numerous  awards,  including  one  of  the  best  places  to  live  (Money magazine),  one  of  the  smartest  cities  in  America  (Lumosity  and  Forbes)  one  of  the  best places  to  raise  children  (BusinessWeek)  and  one  of  the  most  livable  bargain  real  estate markets  (MSN).    

Required  Qualifications

Assistant  Professor-­  Earned  doctorate  in  Educational  Leadership  or  related  discipline  by August  16,  2014  and  experience  which  demonstrates  the  ability  to  teach  courses  in  the Educational  Administration  program.   Associate  or  Full  Professor-­  In  addition  to  the  qualifications  above,  the  candidate  must  have demonstrated  effectiveness  in  teaching;;  evidence  of  research  productivity  commensurate with  Associate/Full  Professor  rank;;  and  experience  in  working  with  Educational Administration  faculty  and  PreK-­12  school  administrators.   Candidates  at  this  rank  may  or  may  not  be  tenured  but,  if  tenured,  must  meet  the  eligibility guidelines  stated  in  appropriate  ISU  faculty  policies.    

Preferred  Qualifications

*  Ability  to  teach  graduate  courses  in  school  district  and  building-­level  leadership, particularly  in  the  areas  of  the  principalship,  the  superintendency,  and  leadership  and organizational  change.  Related  areas  might  include  curriculum,  rural  schooling,  school reform,  the  academic  achievement  of  students  from  under-­represented  groups,  social justice,  special  education,  policy,  research  methods,  and  culturally  responsive  pedagogy.   *  Leadership  and/or  teaching  experience  in  U.S.  pre-­K,  elementary  and  secondary  schools   *  Ability  to  conduct  and  publish  research  and  engage  in  a  scholarly  program  consistent  with rank  and  performance  at  a  Research  Extensive,  AAU  institution   *  Ability  to  collaborate  with  students  and  faculty  from  disciplines  within  the  School  of Education,  College  of  Human  Sciences  and  across  the  University  

*  Ability  to  work  effectively  with  local  schools  and  communities   *  Interest  in  utilizing  digital  technologies  for  online  and/or  classroom  instruction   *  Experience  in  attracting  external  funds  or  working  on  funded  projects
