My Goal….
• My ideal career would be working as a paralegal or legal secretary at a law firm.
What they do…
• Paralegals do a variety of tasks to support their lawyers including organizing files, conducting legal research and drafting documents for court. • Specific duties vary based on the size of the firm, and the kind of cases the firm handles.
Education…
• Taking law related courses in college is the correct way to prepare yourself for a paralegal career. • While a small number of colleges offer bachelors and masters in paralegal studies, an associates degree is commonly accepted in entry level positions.
Salary…
• The median annual wage of paralegals was $46,680 in May of 2010. • Although, wages do depend on the size of the firm or corporation they work for, so the number could vary.
Job Outlook…
• Employment of paralegals is expected to grow by 18% from 2010 to 2020. • Paralegals work is less likely to be outsourced because of the necessity for physical paperwork and files, and personal meetings with clients and judges.
Summary…
• Overall, I’m interested in paralegal work because I want to help lawyers win cases and bring justice to those who need it, whether it be a murder trial or a business settlement. • I hope one day I can work in this field and help others while enjoying my career!
