Manwaren is a graduate of Troy University where she received a masters of public administration with an emphasis on personnel management. Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia has elected the following individuals to its board of directors: Mike Aschkenas is a retired program analyst who worked for the Department of the Navy and is a partner in Renee’s Racket, an antiques and collectibles business. He is a member of the Virginia Beach Mayor’s Commission on Aging and vice chairman of Virginia Beach Project Lifesaver. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Old Dominion University. L. Ashley Brooks is an associate attorney with Huff, Poole & Mahoney PC, serving as counsel for trusts and estates and elder law in the firm’s Chesapeake office. She received her juris doctor from Regent University School of Law and her bachelor of science in government from Liberty University. Roger Phelps, promotional communications manager for Stihl Inc., will be director at large for the 2010-11 board of directors for Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). Phelps joined Stihl in 2001 as the company’s event marketing specialist. In 2003, he was promoted to his present position as promotional communications manager, responsible for sponsorships, public relations, event marketing, social media and trade shows. Phelps participated in PLANET’s 2009 Crystal Ball committee, which produced a report on sustainability in the green industry. He was also PLANET’s 2009 Supplier Committee chair and is a member of PLANET’s government affairs, membership, PLANET Student Career Days and education committees. He was a panel member on sustainability at the 2009 Green Industry Conference. As a director at large on PLANET’s board of directors, his main responsibility will be to uphold PLANET’s mission to maintain the quality of life in communities across America.

Tracy Stewart has been named vice president of enrollment management and information technology at Regent University. Stewart previously was vice president of information technology at Regent and executive director of its School of Undergraduate Studies. Under her leadership, Regent’s IT department received the 2009 CIO 100 Award from the InternationStewart al Data Group’s CIO magazine for effective and innovative use of technology. In 2007, Blackboard Inc. recognized Stewart as a Blackboard Greenhouse Exemplary Course Program Winner for her course in web design and publishing online at Regent. Before coming to Regent, Stewart worked as the chief technology officer for FamilyClick.com, an Internet filtering service, where she was responsible for the design and implementation of the FamilyClick nationwide Internet service provider, portal infrastructure and application service provider products. Stewart also worked for the Family Channel as director of information technology for five years.

She worked as an intern for Allure in New York City in the fall of 2009 and has had articles published in Real Health Magazine in New York, The Virginian-Pilot and Powerhouse Magazine in New York. Walker is also a health and beauty blogger. • Bill Cresenzo will be covering banking and finance and the maritime industry. Cresenzo was a freelance real estate writer for the New York Daily News, an editor and writer for Brokers Weekly in New York, and a legal reporter for American Lawyer Media in New York. Overall, he has 16 years of experience at newspapers and trade journals, including the Times-News in Burlington, N.C., and Triad Business News. He has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Michael Schwartz, a reporter for Inside Business since 2005, has left to take a position with Richmond BizSense.
