FeelGood Chapter Constitution

FeelGood Chapter Constitution I. Purpose, Goals, and Vision A. The Purpose of FeelGood is to be an innovative, non-profit food service, apparel, and event planning business working towards a world free from suffering, hunger, and gender discrimination by raising money for The Hunger Project. We believe that proven, altruistic business practices and the inherent goodness in people, when combined, provide the needed synergy to make this world a better place.

B. Our goals include the following: i. Raise over $10,000 annually for The Hunger Project on Penn State soil. ii. Provide a simple opportunity for students and faculty to give back and to create an awareness of social responsibility in a friendly atmosphere. C. Vision Statement: When college students across the nation have the option to buy their delicious, healthy lunch from an organization which exists to make this world a better place rather than just making a profit, FeelGood will have arrived. Business can do a lot of good and FeelGood wants to help prove that. II. Membership A. At all times, the majority (50% + 1) of all active members shall be full-time, officially registered students at University Park. B. The membership shall be divided into Active and Associate: i. Only full-time, officially registered students are eligible for Active Membership. ii. All other members, including (but not limited to) faculty, staff, and community members, are eligible for Associate Membership. iii. Only Active Members may hold office, vote, preside, officiate, or solicit funds on behalf of FeelGood. C. At all times, there shall be at least 10 Active Members. D. FeelGood reserves the right to expel a member who is not following the policies of the organization with a super majority vote of attending members. E. A completed Officer Report Form (available at www.sa.psu.edu/usa/studentactivites) includes the names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and signatures of both a President and an Advisor. i. FeelGood abides by Penn State’s non-discrimination policy AD-42 (found in Policies and Rules for Recognized Student Organizations).

F. FeelGood will create an environment that makes its members passionate about what they are doing and help them to feel instrumental in making a difference in this world. FeelGood strives to not be stressful but rather empowering. The passion of its members will be the driving motivation for holding members responsible. i. Members are not required, but are encouraged to purchase a FeelGood TShirt for the price of $15. ii. There are no membership renewal fees as long as current members bring in at least one new member for the following school year. iii. Members are required to be on at least 1 event committee per school year. iv. Members must attend 75% of the monthly meetings. v. Members must work the Grilled Cheese Stand for at least 1 hour per week. III. Officers A. Only full-time, officially registered Active Members may hold office. B. In the event that an officer is removed, nominations will take place and a majority (50% + 1) vote will determine the most qualified member for the position. C. FeelGood must have a President and a Treasurer to operate. i. The President shall be the organizational director of FeelGood. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: holding meetings, directing strategic management initiatives, and is responsible for the completion of monthly progress reports. The President is expected to be intimately involved in FeelGood at all levels from planning to daily operations ii. The Vice President shall assist in securing a permanent spot on campus. The Vice President is also responsible for obtaining a food permit, overseeing the logistics and operations of the kiosk, and finding suppliers of snacks and drinks. The Vice President shall preside in the absence of the President. iii. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the management of all financial transactions occurring within the FeelGood Gourmet, Apparel, and Events departments. The Treasurer will be the chief liaison to the student government regarding club finances. iv. The Secretary shall record minutes and create meeting agendas. The Secretary shall also keep file of suppliers and create Grilled Cheese Stand shifts. v. The Fundraising Chair shall plan and implement fundraising events and plan ordering of apparel. The Fundraising Chair shall be present at all planned events. IV. Meetings A. Meetings shall be held no less than 3 times per month.

B. Meetings shall be called by the President and the Vice President via e-mail with at least a week’s notice. C. A special meeting may be called by the President (or by another officer given the permission from the President) if it is necessary to hold a meeting that has not been previously scheduled. D. Quorum shall be determined by 2/3rd of Active Members. E. Officer Elections shall be held at the end of the Spring semester, allowing ample time for outgoing officers to train incoming officers. F. Finances A. All FeelGood funds shall be handled through the Associated Student Activities office. B. FeelGood shall not have an off-campus account. VI. FeelGood Constitution A. Amendments may be suggested by Active and Associate Members. i. Upon presentation to the President, voting may occur to make constitutional amendments. ii. Any amendments may be subject to approval by the Office of Student Activities. iii. Upon approval of constitutional amendments, revisions will be made at the start of the following school year. B. Officers reserve the right to cover specific cases not covered by the FeelGood Constitution of The Pennsylvania State University. VII. Constitution Availability A. The FeelGood Constitution shall be made available to anyone upon request. VIII. Advisor A. An advisor shall be chosen by the officers of the chapter, and the advisor shall be a full-time faculty or staff member at The Pennsylvania State University. B. An advisor may be recommended by any Active or Associate Member.

IX.

.General Provisions A. All proceeds of money raised by FeelGood, whether through the grilled cheese stand, t-shirts, or events, must go to The Hunger Project. If there is a local or other charity the members are inspired to support, they must appeal to the FeelGood Headquarters. B. The By-Laws shall be determined by the FeelGood Headquarters. i. Our main product is gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. Sandwiches are to be sold for a donation. ii. FeelGood gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches are guaranteed to be delicious and high quality. The bread must be picked up 3 times a week and produce must be kept at 40 degrees. Sandwiches must be made with care and creativity. iii. Our main service is providing a simple opportunity for students and faculty to give back and to create an awareness of social responsibility in a friendly atmosphere. iv. FeelGood organizes activities such as music concerts, fun runs, movie nights, etc… to raise money for The Hunger Project. It gives FeelGood members the opportunity be creative about ways to raise money and create spaces for building awareness of our causes in a recreational setting. v. FeelGood apparel is sold at our Gourmet campus Kiosks and on our website. Our apparel products are produced by local/low-production artists. All profits go to The Hunger Project. vi. Part of the FeelGood mission is to raise awareness about the issues surrounding world hunger. The Hunger Project’s philosophy of seeing hungry people as the solution and author of their own sustainable life, rather than the problem should be communicated to FeelGood customers in a creative effective way. Members also must stand for the key principles of The Hunger Project which are that of gender equality, socioeconomic equality, and sustainability. The Hunger Project’s philosophies and principles are key to unleashing the human spirit, which is what FeelGood is working for.
