2.  Why is necessary for a pharmacist to be updated on drug information?   Pharmacist is necessary to be updated on drug information so that t hat they briefly identify appropriate resources then answering drug information queries.

3.  Give the importance on maintaining separate prescription books and poison books.   For following standards operating procedures if normally implies quality & accountability in dispensing processes so as to guarantee quality drugs therapy & compliance. Separate the books so it would minimize the chance of missing any item &will easily be identified.

4.  What is the procedure for reporting the use of dangerous drugs?  

Formulate, develop and establish a comprehensive, integrated, unified and balanced national drug abuse prevention and control strategy;

 

Promulgate such rules and regulations as may m ay be necessary to carry out the purposes of this Act, including the manner of safekeeping, disposition, burning or condemnation of  any dangerous drug and/or controlled precursor and essential chemical under the charge and custody of DDB, PDEA and other concerned agencies, and prescribe administrative remedies or sanctions for the violations of such rules r ules and regulations;

 

Conduct policy studies, program monitoring and evaluations and other researches on drug prevention, control and enforcement;

 

Initiate, conduct and support scientific, clinical, social, psychological, physical and biological researches on dangerous drugs and dangerous drug prevention and control measures;

 

 

Issue guidelines as to the approval or disapproval of applications for voluntary treatment, rehabilitation or confinement, wherein it shall issue the necessary guidelines, rules and regulations pertaining to the application and its enforcements;

 

Formulate guidelines, in coordination with other government agencies, for the importation, distribution, production, manufacture, compounding, prescription, dispensing and sale of, and other lawful acts in connection with any dangerous drug, controlled precursor and essential chemical and other similar or analogous substances of such kind and in such quantity as it may deem necessary according to the medical and research needs or requirements r equirements of the country including diet pills containing ephedrine and other addictive chemicals and determine the quantity and/or quality of  dangerous drugs and precursors and essential chemicals to be imported, manufactured an held in stock at any given time by authorized importer, manufacturer or distributor of  such drugs;

 

Reclassify, add to or remove any dangerous drug from, the lists of dangerous drugs and controlled precursors and essential chemicals, as provided for under Section 93;

5.  What are the different types of drug distribution systems? Differentiate Differentiate each.   A.  Traditional System a) Floor Floor or ward stock system- in this system, all but the most unusual drug items are stored on the nursing station b) 

Individual prescription order system-in this system,

virtually all medicine are dispensed by the pharmacist on individual prescriptions orders. c) Combination Combination of the above mentioned system- the most common method of medication distribution. In this system, most drugs are dispensed on an individual prescription basis. B.  Limit Dose System   1960’s the UDS introduced as a new drug distribution system, it is a pharmacy-coordinated method of dispensing and controlling medication in organized health-care settings.
