How to reconfigure / add printers
Starting
from
January
3rd
2012
you
won’t
be
able
to
print
with
your
actual
con<iguration:
in
fact
the
IT
services
decided
to
replace
the
print
server
and
some
of
the
printers
of
the
faculty
of
informatics,
resulting
in
the
changes
highlighted
here:

USI_LASER
-‐ Academic
staff
will
be
able
to
print
on
any
printer.
1.Modify
printer

(MAC

These
are
the
steps
you
can
follow
to
update
your
settings:
1) Access
your
local
cups
via
browser
on
http://localhost:631
2) Click
on
the
Printers
tab
3) Choose
the
printer
to
modify
(e.g.
USI_MFP_BW)
4) Select
Modify
Printer
5) Select
Windows
printer
*
MAC:
“Windows
printer
via
spoolss”
(as
in
the
picture)
*
Linux:
“Windows
printer
via
samba”
6) Correct
the
old
connection
uri
according
to
the
printer
details
provided
at
the
beginning
of
this
document:

Beware
that
both
the
server
and
the
printer
