“Pro-Choice” Violence and Illegal Activities in Kansas

Hays Hutchinson Kansas City Lawrence Leavenworth Topeka Wichita Hays, Kansas
Vandalism (3 incidents) and Hate Crimes (3 incidents) In April of 1998, pro-abortionists wreaked havoc at cemeteries and churches in three small western Kansas communities. The smashed figures of Christ, broke headstones, pulled crucifixes from an altar and destroyed them, and vandalized a memorial to unborn children. Battery “Pro-choicers” sure do love to do street theater, and consider it a sacred right, an integral part of free speech. But when pro-lifers do the same, the abortion supporters often simply lose control of themselves and lash out physically in hate and anger. On September 9, 2006, at the annual Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, wore a cockroach costume and carried out satirical skits mocking pro-abortion

Kansas - Page 1 -

politicians and their support of filthy and unregulated Kansas abortion mills, some of which were infested with cockroaches. He was particularly making fun of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, who had twice vetoed bills requiring only the most basic regulation and inspection of abortion mills. This might have something to do with the fact that she had received a lot of monetary support from third-trimester abortionist George Tiller. Democratic Representative Vaughn Flora approached Newman in the crowd and tore off his Sebelius mask, lacerating his head in the process. The Reno County District Attorney’s office filed a complaint charging Flora with intentionally and unlawfully causing physical contact with Newman “in a rude, insulting or angry manner,” and charged him with battery, a Class B misdemeanor. Newman wryly noted that I think Mr. Flora may need to take some anger management classes to help him get his temper under control. As Christians, we pray for the repentance and salvation of Mr. Flora. I harbor no ill will against him, although his actions have made me question whether he is qualified to hold a position in our state’s government. We just want to see him get his personal problems worked out so he doesn’t attack anyone else. Of course, everyone on both sides of the abortion battle knew that Flora would get away with his assault on Newman. He was found guilty of battery and fined $228, which included court costs. His 30day jail sentence was suspended, and he was ordered to attend anger management classes. Therefore, on June 15, 2007, Newman filed suit against Flora in Shawnee County District Court, seeking more than $75,000 in damages. In December 2007, Flora apologized to Newman in a two-sentence letter and settled out of court. Cannibalism and Violation of Health and Safety Standards (12 counts) The Board of Healing Arts of Kansas suspended the medical license of Kansas City abortionist Krishna Rajanna on March 25, 2004, after it conducted an unannounced inspection of his "Affordable Medical and Surgical Services" abortion mill and found a rodent and medical waste stored without lids. In the Spring of 2005, medical authorities raided Rajanna's abortion mill after former employees alleged that he had coffee cups full of syringes lying around, stored medical equipment near a blood-stained toilet, had a blood-spattered carpet in his operating room, and put aborted preborn babies in refrigerators the employees used for lunches. One employee said that she witnesses Rajanna microwaving an aborted baby and mixing it into his own lunch. Rajanna denied this last allegation, saying that he is a vegetarian, but did admit keeping fetuses in Styrofoam cups in the refrigerator along with food and drink. He was not charged, simply because there are no laws in Kansas that prohibit the eating of aborted babies.

Kansas - Page 2 -

Ex-clinic employee Julia Walton Garcia made the fetus-eating charge to Detective William Howard of the Kansas City Police Department and to District Attorney Nick Tomasic. Howard said that "Julia went on to describe how she and the other girls actually witnessed Rajanna microwave one of the aborted fetuses and stir it into his lunch. Julia claimed that she shared this [information] with some of the other employees, who confirmed that they had seen him do the very same thing." Some of Julia's photographs are shown below.

The refrigerator was used as a `store-all,' with food, drugs, needles and aborted preborn babies all kept in close proximity. Several cups containing pre-drawn syringes of drugs for patients were kept in the refrigerator, along with a cake, a bottle of `Dr. Pepper,' and a bag of Kraft cheese cubes.

Kansas - Page 3 -

The uncovered styrofoam cup in the refrigerator, to the right, was used to store the remains of aborted preborn babies.

This was the kitchen `break room' with unfinished walls. It was completely Cluttered like a messy garage, there was food mixed with cleaning agents, boxes of medical records on the floor near the refrigerator, and open containers of food near supplies. Every flat surface was crammed with clutter ― an open box of `Cheez-Its,' a bottle of soda, papers, and cleaning products.

Kansas - Page 4 -

The bathroom used by both patients and staff doubled as an instrument sterilization room. The toilet had a brown stain, possibly blood, smeared across the seat, and Styrofoam soda cups were stacked next to and on top of it. A pile of clutter and a broom sat next to the toilet, and a bottle of “Always Save” bleach sat on a dingy, peeling linoleum floor near full, open trash bags. A rubber hose ran from a sink over the toilet and into a dishwasher used for sterilizing surgical instruments, and a tray of instruments sat atop the dishwasher.

Two of the “procedure rooms” and the waiting room. The “procedure rooms” were used to store sterilizing equipment, and both were in complete disarray and extremely unsanitary. The waiting room doubled as a trash depository.

Kansas - Page 5 -

The only fire exit was a blocked back door and passageway crammed with a lawnmover, various junk, and improperly stored supplies, including biohazard trash. Surgical instruments were stacked on top of a washing machine in a small closet, with unidentified, possibly biohazardous liquids stored in plastic containers. This cluttered utility room was crammed with trash, biohazardous materials, and medical and other supplies.

Kansas - Page 6 -

Surgical instruments and medications lay on top of a cabinet in the cluttered utility room. An inoperable fire extinguisher sat on the floor next to an unfinished interior wall. The `recovery' area was a non-private partitioned area, not a monitored enclosed room. It included unchanged bedding and re-used `underpads,' and had no monitoring equipment or staff, both of which are mandated by the Board of Health, published abortion standards and the Physician's Desk Reference for recovery from medications used on women during surgical procedures.

On March 15, 2005, Detective Howard testified before the Kansas House Committee on Health and Human Services. He gave details on the "disgusting" condition of the abortion mill, as well as on Rajanna's lack of personal hygiene. Howard said that There were dirty dishes in the sink and on the tabletop, trash everywhere, and roaches crawling across the countertops, with a smell of a stench in the room. Frankly I was reluctant to sit down. ... The medical equipment was cleaned with Clorox and water then put in a 'dishwasher.' ... I thought I had heard and seen every vile, disgusting crime scene, but was in for a new shock when I started this investigation. ... the female witness went on to describe of how she and other girls actually witnessed Rajanna microwave one of the aborted fetuses and stir it into his lunch. Howard also told The Pitch that "The clinic was filthy. It was disgusting. It was repulsive. To think that there was invasive surgery going on in that clinic was not a comforting thought. It might remind you of a clinic you'd run into in a Third World country." In March 2005, the Kansas Board of Healing Arts shut down Rajanna's abortion mill and fined him $1,000, and, on June 11, 2005 it unanimously voted to permanently revoke his medical license for repeatedly violating health and safety standards at his abortion mill. Naturally, the abortionist blamed pro-lifers for his troubles, claiming that they were orchestrating some kind of sinister campaign against

Kansas - Page 7 -

him. In July 2005, Rajanna filed a lawsuit against the Board of Healing Arts. Showing contempt for the poor, Rajanna's lawyer argued that his abortion mill should not be shut down, because then low-income patients could not receive care from him. Medical Board member Nancy Welsh asked "Why do they [the poor] deserve a dirty clinic?" Kansans for Life legislative director Kathy Ostrowski said in response to the lawsuit that "It is ridiculous for Rajanna to deny that his Kansas City clinic was rodent-ridden, filthy and deficient. Even more ridiculous is his claim that the Board of Healing Arts acted as an agent for pro-lifers." Abortionist Rajanna had already been disciplined by the Medical Board twice in 2000 and 2001 for failing to properly test the blood-types of his patients and for improperly labeling medications. Kansas House Bill 2829 would require all 2,300 offices that perform outpatient surgery (including abortion mills) to undergo unannounced inspections. Showing once again that they value the availability of abortion far more than they value the health and lives of women, pro-abortionists vehemently opposed this legislation, even though it did not single out abortion mills for attention. Assault and Battery and Impeding a Police Investigation Jennifer McCoy was six months pregnant, and was one of several pro-lifers who were picketing the Central Family Medicine abortion mill in Kansas City, Kansas, on November 14, 2009. An abortion mill came outside and began to taunt and verbally abuse the pro-lifers. Then she rammed her shoulder into Jennifer. The pro-lifers called police, but the abortion mill worker fled the scene. Jennifer followed her to make sure she could not get away, but she returned to the abortion mill and hid inside. Police attempted to enter the clinic to arrest the woman for battery, but another worker kept them out, demanding that the police get a search warrant, and lied to them by saying that Jennifer’s attacker was not there. Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, said that “This is yet another example of abortion workers engaging in violent or criminal acts, then acting as if the laws don’t apply to them. We look forward to this woman’s impending arrest and conviction with the hope it will serve as a lesson that abortionists and their collaborators are not above the law.” Reference: “Pregnant Pro-Lifer Attacked by Abortion Worker Outside KC Abortion Clinic.” Operation Rescue, November 20, 2009.

Attempted Murder and Assault On September 20, 1998, pro-lifers were demonstrating at the University of Kansas. The Associated Press reported that a pro-abortionist drove his car into the demonstration at a high rate of speed, just

missing one of the women holding the signs. Another violent attack occurred the next day when, claiming he was trying to knock down a sign, another pro-abortionist punched a pro-lifer. First-Degree Murder, Attempted Murder (2 counts) and Conspiracy to Commit Murder (2 counts) According to police and prosecution documents and witness testimony, the following events occurred in and around Lansing, Kansas, near Leavenworth. You have to give "pro-choicer" Sedale Lee Fox credit for being persistent. His girlfriend Olivia Jackson was just five weeks away from giving birth, and he absolutely did not want either her or her baby. Olivia, however, was thrilled, and had posted dozens of prenatal images of her preborn child on MySpace for all of her friends to see. She had already named her preborn girl Michelle, and her friends had thrown her a baby shower two days before she died. By contrast, Fox' online screen name was "Only the strong shall survive," and he soon set out to live up to his name. During the early morning hours of January 11, 2008, Fox and his friend Jared A. Reed placed a pipe bomb under Olivia's small home in Leavenworth, Kansas. The bomb exploded and started a fire, but Olivia and her sister managed to escape death. On January 22, 2008, Fox tried to murder Olivia again, and this time he succeeded in shooting her to death in clinic ... the WildWoods mobile home park in Lansing, just a few miles from Leavenworth, Kansas. On January 25, 2008, Fox appeared in Leavenworth County District Court to respond to charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Reed was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder. References: Robert A. Cronkleton, The Kansas City Star. Topeka, Kansas
Unlawful Sexual Relations and Drug Trafficking Anastacio "Ted" Gallardo was a plumbing instructor at the Topeka Correctional Facility. In 2007, he paid inmate Tracy Keith for oral sex, then demanded sodomy and normal intercourse with her. She became pregnant, and Gallardo smuggled drugs into the prison in an attempt to induce a miscarriage. After an inmate alerted the TCF staff of Keith's pregnancy, Gallardo was charged with rape, unlawful sexual relations and drug trafficking. He reached a plea bargain to avoid prosecution for rape, and was sentenced to two years of probation, a fine of $100 and inclusion on the sex offender's registry. Gallardo amused attorneys during his 2010 appeal of his conviction, when he claimed that he had

Kansas - Page 9 -

sex with Tracy Keith for reasons other than sexual gratification. One attorney said "I have to ask. So, you can have sexual relations and not intend to satisfy your sexual desires? How does that work? Isn't this absurd?" Reference: "Former TCF Teacher Appeals Sentence." Topeka Capital-Journal, February 10, 2010. Unprofessional Conduct, Malpractice (5 incidents) and Violating a Protective Order Abortionists Mila Means and Gregory S. Linhardt planned on opening abortion mills in Wichita in 2011. They were both in training in a filthy abortion mill with an elderly abortionist who himself had a troubled past — usually a lethal combination. Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said that We are not talking about the best doctors in town opening modern, well-staffed offices. We are talking about professionally troubled and financially strapped people whose specialty of care does not involve gynecology doing abortions in offices with old equipment and inexperienced staff. Desperation for money and a lack of experience are prescriptions for disaster. We are urging the Kansas Legislature to enact laws that will insure that these people cannot open up what would amount to unsafe abortion ‘chop shops’ that have no accountability to the law. Abortionist Means, also known as Mila Holmes, was disciplined by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts in April 2007 for unprofessional conduct by having an improper personal relationship with one of her patients who had previously been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She eventually married him, but continued a doctor-patient relationship with him and other members of his immediate family. Means has also misused psychiatry in her family practice, and has defaulted on at least two credit cards for nearly $30,000, leading to the garnishment of her wages. She was also sued for her part of the debt in a failed medical business. Means bought old, used and possibly out-of-date abortion equipment from George Tiller’s old abortion mill, the now-closed Women’s Health Care Services, so that she can open her own abortuary.,

———
The other abortionist is anesthesiologist Gregory Linhardt, who also wants to set up an abortion mill in Wichita. Linhardt was arrested and jailed ten months ago for violating a protective order that was sought by his ex-wife. In early 2011, Linhardt was unemployed. ——— In early 2011, abortionists Means and Linhardt were training to do abortions at the Aid for Women in Kansas City, Kansas. Among “alumni” here are Krishna Rajanna, one of whose employees witnessed him microwave an aborted baby and add it to his lunch. His abortion mill was so filthy he lost his medical license over it. Then there is abortionist Sherman Zaremski, who was involved in a Federal Court case (Aid for Women v. Foulston) that challenged the state’s mandatory child sex abuse reporting laws, showing that it really is all about the money for abortionists. Zaremski was the abortionist who failed to report the sexual abuse of an 11-year old girl, who he aborted and sent home to be raped for four more years by her step-father, Robert Estrada. Means and Lindhardt are being trained by 70-year-old abortionist Ronald Yeomans, who has practiced in several states and has been sued many times for malpractice, settling out of court for large amounts on a number of them. Yeoman has written about his belief in the wacky notion that bird feathers have mystical powers to heal people and help them “receive important messages from the universe.”

Capital Murder (3 counts), Aggravated Kidnapping (3 counts), Rape (2 counts), Burglary, Theft, Aggravated Escape from Custody, Drug Pushing, Trafficking in Contraband at a Correctional Facility, and Parole Violations (3 incidents) Chelsea Brooks was a 14-year-old magnet school student who was nine months pregnant by her 20-year-old elementary school basketball coach, Elgin "Ray-Ray" Robinson Jr. She already knew that her baby was a girl and that she would name her "Alexa Lynn." Robinson was aware that, once his child was born, DNA testing requested by the district attorney's office would show that he was the father, and that he would probably be charged with rape, not to mention having to pay child support. So he asked his acquaintances if they would be willing to do him a little "favor" — eliminate Chelsea and her preborn child. 49-year-old Theodore G. Burnett offered to do the job for $500, but the contract went instead to 17-year-old Everett Gentry. During his trial, Everett Gentry told the judge that, on June 9, 2006, he put shovels in the back seat of his Buick Skylark, then picked up Burnett and then Chelsea. They drove to an unpopulated area, and Burnett reached from the back seat and strangled her to death with a wire. Then they dumped her in a shallow grave in a secluded wheat field in Butler County, where workers discovered her a week later. When asked why Robinson wanted Chelsea killed, Gentry replied that "He said she was pregnant with his baby." Gentry also said that Robinson told him Chelsea's family was going to have Robinson prosecuted for statutory rape or some other crime. Robinson's taste for young girls was certainly not new to him. In 2004, police caught him in a public park having sex with another 14-year-old girl. Burnett had previously been convicted of theft, burglary, aggravated escape from custody, a drug offense, trafficking in contraband at a correctional facility, and repeated parole violations. Robinson was charged with capital murder, aggravated kidnapping and two counts of rape for having sex with Chelsea before she turned 14. Burnett and Gentry were also charged with kidnapping and capital murder. Gentry pleaded guilty to a charge of capital murder, saying that "I'm pleading guilty because I am guilty." He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years. Because of his age, he was not eligible for the death penalty. References: Tim Potter. She is a circuit-rider abortionist who travels from place to place and specializes in abortions of viable preborn children, those in the late second trimester or even third trimester.

Kansas - Page 11 -

Sella is a financial contributor to a radical California pro-abortion group called ACCESS, one of whose stated goals is to shut down pro-life crisis pregnancy centers. Sella is also a lesbian who "married" Julie Litwin in a civil marriage service in San Francisco on Valentine's Day, 2004. These and other ersatz "marriages" were declared invalid by the courts. In June 2008, she attended a botched abortion, where the baby was actually born alive. Former Tiller employee Tina Davis told Operation Rescue the details. Troy Newman of Operation Rescue said that she described the incident like this: "We were told that the baby was 35 weeks gestation at the time of the abortion. The baby came out and was moving. Sella looked up at Ms. Davis, then picked up a utensil and stabbed the baby in the left ribcage, twisting the utensil until the baby quit moving." Sella and fellow abortionist Susan Robinson now do third-trimester abortions for Curtis Boyd in Albuquerque. References: Steven Ertelt. First-Degree Rape (5 counts), Felony Aggravated Indecent Liberties (4 counts) and Aggravated Child Endangerment (2 counts) This case demonstrates once again that legal abortion is an ideal way for sex molesters to cover up their repulsive crimes. For several years, Robert A. Estrada, Sr. sexually molested his two little stepdaughters, who were only eleven and fourteen years old. When the eleven-year-old girl became pregnant, Estrada took her to abortionist Sherman Zaremski at the Central Women's Services abortion mill, and he aborted her and returned her to Estrada's abuse without question. Estrada impregnated her again, and she gave birth to twins on her 12th birthday. Estrada also impregnated the other girl and took her for an abortion, and once again the abortion mill personnel asked no questions. Former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline subpoenaed the records of the Central Women's Services abortion mill in October 2005, and Estrada was arrested the following month. He was charged with five counts of first-degree rape, four counts of felony aggravated indecent liberties, and two counts of aggravated child endangerment. Zaremski was the plaintiff in the notorious Aid for Women v. Foulston Federal court case, in which he argued that abortion mill personnel should not have to report suspected child sexual molestation. He still works as an abortionist in Kansas City. In July 2006, Estrada pleaded no contest to the charges and, on October 4, 2006, he was sentenced to ninety years in prison. Felony Assault (2 incidents) Wichita abortionist George "Killer" Tiller arrived at work on Saturday, January 7, 1989, only to find 67 pro-life rescuers blocking the entrances to his clinic. Enraged, he ran over and seriously injured a pro-lifer with his car, and then rammed a policeman on a motorcycle. Incredibly, the police allowed

Kansas - Page 12 -

Tiller to enter the clinic, where he killed ten babies before police finally responded to the demands of outraged rescuers and arrested him. Twenty women were turned away that day by the rescuers. Tiller was eventually charged with felony assault. The attitude of the police towards him was typically cavalier; while Tiller had attempted to kill a pro-lifer and a cop, he would have gone scot-free had the other activists not demanded his arrest. Meanwhile, all 67 of those attempting to save lives by trespassing (a misdemeanor at most) were arrested and charged as soon as possible. Attempted Murder On February 26, 1992, abortionist Darin C. Sparkman ran over pro-life video cameraman Darrel McKinney, who was seriously injured. A civil suit filed against him alleges that he changed direction to back into two pedestrians with his truck, causing permanent injury to one pedestrian. The other pedestrian was not struck. A witness gave a statement that Sparkman "literally burned rubber back toward the above mentioned young men." Sparkman contended that he had backed up only to visually identify the men, one of whom had pointed at him, as regular protesters outside his facility. Reference: Chicago Suburban Rescue (CSR) news release, August 21, 1993. Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault (2 incidents), Making Terroristic Threats, and Criminal Restraint On May 27, 2004, pro-lifers were peacefully picketing the home of one of third-trimester abortionist George Tiller's employees (Joan Armentrout), when pro-abortionist Steven Bowring, driving a big Dodge pickup truck deliberately drove up over the curb and aimed his vehicle at a 49-year-old woman pro-lifer. He missed her, then backed up and tried again to run over another group of pro-lifers. Fortunately, his wheel got stuck in a storm drain and, after trying to get back up over the curb, instead drove away. During the entire incident, he had been screaming and cursing. Pro-lifers recorded the entire incident on videotape. Bowring began drinking heavily. He went home, began chasing his wife with a knife, then doused her with gasoline and tried to set her on fire. Police were called, and Bowring was arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, making a terroristic threat, and criminal restraint. References: Adam Smeltz. Torture and Assault (5 incidents) On July 21, 1991, police brutally beat pro-life rescuers who were handcuffed and sitting in a police bus. Also, police maced several people in the face while they were laying in the street, while they had their hands cuffed behind their backs. Battery (2 incidents) On July 18, 2001, during the second Summer of Mercy series of rescue missions at George Tiller's late term abortion mill in Wichita, Kansas, police arrested two pro-aborts for battery. As usual, the cowards assaulted the weakest pro-lifers: Elderly women. Deputy Chief Stephen Cole said Joshua Klein, 26, of Columbus, Ohio was arrested for pushing a 60-year-old woman from Prairieville, Louisiana, out of the way, and Karen Rose, 30, from Chicago, was arrested for pushing a 52-year old woman from Great Falls, Montana. Both were held on $3,000 bonds. In both cases, the assailants were repeatedly warned by police, and the incidents were witnessed by police officers, Cole said. Operation Save America said "The arrests show just who are the violent ones. They are those who would conspire to tear innocent little baby boys and girls from their mother's wombs and dismember them." References: "Arrests Begin." Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW) A pro-abortionist shot a pro-lifer with a pellet gun at the Wichita Family Planning Clinic abortion mill. Assault, Attempted Burglary, Death Threats (5 incidents), Destruction of Property (4 incidents) and Vandalism (3 incidents) Operation Rescue is perhaps the most well-known and visible pro-life organization in the United States, so it is under almost continuous attack by “pro-choicers.” But abortion supporters do not have the courage to debate Operation Rescue people; instead, the cowards send anonymous letters and attack OR at night. OR’s offices are in a former abortion mill that the group bought and closed in 2006. The mill had been so filthy that the entire interior of the building had to be reconstructed. A Better Choice, a pregnancy help center, is located directly adjacent to Operation Rescue’s office. After the murder of third-trimester abortionist George Tiller, “pro-choicers” lashed out at any prolifers they could think of. Some of the hate mail sent to Operation Rescue included the following comments;

Kansas - Page 14 -

• • •

• •

“Time to start killing bible-thumping morons. If only YOUR parents had believed in abortion.” “Let those that have sinned cast bullets towards you idiots as well.” “Since you and your followers promote the killing of doctors who carry out abortions, I think it’s time for those of us who respect a woman’s right to control her own reproduction to promote a little terrorism of our own. So watch out, keep looking over your shoulders, who knows who may be behind you?” “I eagerly await the day that I see your blood on someone’s hands.” And, of course, this one;

Typical scrawled, cartoonish writing by ignorant “pro-choice” people sending death threats to the Operation Rescue headquarters in Wichita, Kansas.

On June 26, 2009, a “pro-choicer” physically attacked the Operation Rescue national headquarters in Wichita, Kansas. OR President Troy Newman heard a noise and saw the man trying to climb onto the roof. Newman ran outside and confronted the man, who tried to physically assault him. Then he threw his bicycle at Newman and ran away. He had stolen one security camera and caused about $1,000 in damage. As expected, since this was a pro-life office, Kansas City police dragged their feet disgracefully. Newman said that We can't help but think that if this attack happened to an abortion clinic, there would be federal marshals patrolling and investigating. The police seemed apathetic. It's almost as if pro-lifers are second-class citizens. We are just thankful that no one was injured and that the attacker was interrupted before he could do more damage. We will be increasing our security precautions as a result of this incident. We have a very dedicated staff, and no amount of intimidation will deter us from our work. In September 2010, Operation Rescue erected a large banner outside its headquarters. This banner directed women next door to the crisis pregnancy center, and, in its first two days, four women decided to

Kansas - Page 15 -

keep their babies after seeing it. The banner was vandalized three times by cowardly “pro-choicers” who want there to be no choice but abortion. The last time, on May 18, 2011, there was so much damage that the banner had to be replaced at a cost of several hundred dollars.

Another freedom-loving “pro-choicer” vandalized the poster outside Operation Rescue headquarters, the third time the poster has been defaced. Assault During a 1992 rescue at a local abortion mill, a pro-abortionist poured a bucket of urine on a pro-lifer from his roof-top perch. Death Threats (5 incidents), Breaking and Entering and Vandalism (4 incidents) During the period 1991 to 1994, pro-abortionists attacked pro-lifers by breaking their car windows, breaking their house windows by throwing bottles of ketchup at them, breaking and entering into the pro-lifer's houses, and placing threatening notes. These notes appeared when pro-lifers would, as part of efforts to sell their homes, have open houses. Upon returning home, they would find notes saying things such as "We know you have kids and your kids are in danger."

Vandalism (5 incidents) Pro-abortionists severely vandalized several pro-life businesses at night. These businesses included the Abate Abortion office, the HopeNet office, and Esther's Flower Shop. Pro-abortion activist Raymond Rivera admitted to the vandalism, saying I was told to antagonize the pro-lifers and I made the girls throw out any pro-life literature before entering the clinic ... We would tell them, 'Those people out there are terrorists, it's safer in here. They're crazy.' I even told one group, 'That woman out there was just released from Meadowview Mental Hospital. Don't talk to her; she killed her family' ... As soon as I got here last August, I joined the "Freedom of Choice Action League." They're big at Pine and Market. Some of them practice witchcraft and sometimes they chalk pentagrams [a symbol of Satan] on the sidewalks ... I had written about how they openly practice witchcraft and how the clinic director tells us, every time we beat up the pro-lifers, to cover their cameras ... I wrote [editorial to the Wichita Eagle] that pro-abortionists displayed sex toys in front of children and how they dumped semen and urine on people at national rescues. I personally defaced churches, LIFE, Inc., and HopeNet. I apologize for that ... They hate God, they're anti-Christian ..." When asked "What are the greatest contrasts between pro-choice and pro-life activists?" Rivera answered: Pro-abortionists are the terrorists, not the pro-lifers. They're the ones throwing bricks through people's windows and doing obscene things. I was shocked when I went to the Crypt to pray and they were screaming and yelling, shouting obscenities, while all the pro-lifers were praying silently. Vandalism (2 incidents) Every day, a pro-life group called Kansas Coalition for Life set up about 150 white crosses in front of the Women's Health Care Services abortion mill in Wichita, Kansas, which commits late-term abortions. KCL had city permission to set up the crosses on public property in front of the abortuary, and its members were required to be in attendance at all times. But, just after noon on July 11, 2004, two pro-abortion men did not like what they saw, so they tore down and broke all but about fifteen of the crosses, causing about $1,000 in damage. They not only tore the crosses out of the ground, they broke them all in half. MaryAnn Cravens, an elderly pro-life woman, was on duty at the time, so the cowardly pro-aborts felt safe. They would not have destroyed the crosses had young pro-life men been in attendance. Then, like all cowards, they fled the scene. Mark Gietzen, Chairman of Kansas Coalition for Life, said "As deplorable as the violence to the

crosses was, it is nothing in comparison to the violence that the late-term babies undergo inside of the abortion facility, as they are being killed and incinerated, after being stripped of salable body parts. ... The recent beheading of American hostages in Iraq and Saudi Arabia, something that many people cannot bear to look at on TV, is physically and morally equivalent to what happens in every late-term abortion." The painted signature of "Queer Nation" was neatly done with stencils. Reference: "The Facts of Life, Inc." newsletter, December 1992, page 1. Drug Dealing, Drug Possession (6 incidents), Fraud (2 counts), Illegal Prescriptions (3 incidents), Falsifying Documents, Violation of Health and Safety Standards (5 counts), Practicing Medicine without a License (7 incidents) and Malpractice (5 incidents) Abortionist William Malcom Knarr, a member of the National Abortion Federation (NAF), had a petition to revoke his medical license state that he performed unnecessary tests and services, lacked malpractice coverage, wrote prescriptions in violation of federal regulations, prescribed or administered drugs without federal registration, improperly monitored drugs, and failed to adhere to standards of care regarding several abortion cases. The medical board found that the "Licensee has the inability to practice the branch of the Healing Arts for which he is licensed with reasonable skill and safety to patients by reason of illness, alcoholism, excessive use of drugs, controlled substances, chemical or any other type of material or as a result of any mental or physical condition." Knarr was ordered to undergo 5 days evaluation at a treatment center; he refused to release the results of the evaluation to the medical board. The abortionist was convicted in Oklahoma of the sale of marijuana and LSD and possession of hashish September 2, 1970. He failed to disclose these convictions on federal applications, and an application for hospital privileges when applying for Kansas license. He was given a 4-year suspended prison sentence and a $5,000 fine in 1984 for the false federal application. An affidavit by a former employee states that;

No staff at Knarr's abortion mill were RNs or LPNs; All staff, including a receptionist with no medical training, started IVs to produce anesthesia and restore consciousness; One employee was trained at the facility to perform sonograms, which she did for patients; All staff but one assisted in abortion procedures; Patients were required to pay for their abortions prior to being checked in; Patients who changed their minds about their abortions were charged for office visits and sonograms, such charge usually being $90, even if they had not seen Knarr; After payment, patients would be given materials to read describing the abortion procedure as safe, and differing from the information "which is supposed to be given to the women eight hours before her abortion;"

Adoption was not offered as an option; Patients were told verbally and in clinic materials to disbelieve information given by protesters; Cash patients were aborted the same day, regardless of the informed consent requirements or intake of food prior to arrival at facility; Patient age was not verified with identification; In order to disguise the presence in procedure room of a staff member who had done pre-procedure counseling, staff would sign records for each other's counseled patients; Counselor training consisted of reading materials and no instruction; Staff members who scheduled abortion appointments received a percentage of the abortion fee; Medical history, blood pressure, and Rh factor testing were done by staff; RhoGam was given in doses not in accordance with the Physicians Desk Reference; Knarr was notified by telephone when all patients were present, and at least four women were expected to be prepped, with their feet in the stirrups, for abortion prior to his arrival; Upon arrival, Knarr would sometimes meet with his staff for as long as two hours before proceeding with abortions; Women were sent out of the facility rather than given somewhere to lie down after the insertion of laminaria; Due to an error in sonogram reading, one patient was discovered to have an advanced pregnancy beyond 16 weeks, resulting in lodging of the fetal head in the uterus, which Knarr crushed with clamps; Anesthesia used caused transient amnesia, and women resisting the procedure were given more: "If a woman asked Knarr to stop the procedure, he ignored her because he felt she was drugged up and wouldn't remember it;" No check was made to determine if all fetal tissues had been removed; Fetal tissues were stored in an unrefrigerated barrel inside the back door; In cases where less than 10 cubic centimeters of fetal material was removed, the tissues were sent to a pathologist, and sometimes were determined to contain no products of conception; Women were not notified of their pathology report results and no efforts were made to determine the reason for the lack of fetal tissue in specimens; Torn cervix was a common complication; Knarr once left a tenaculum and a speculum in a patient; Knarr often arrived appearing disheveled; Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) was common; Neither post-abortion counseling nor referrals for such were provided; Women counseled personally by Knarr always followed through with abortions; A police officer regularly responding to calls about protesters was dating a clinic staff member; 12 vials of Versed were unaccounted for; Versed was administered in a manner inconsistent with the advice of the Physician's Desk Reference, which recommended its use only in settings "that provide constant monitoring of respiratory and cardiac function;" Blood was drawn in the exam room or in the kitchen, and was stored with food in a refrigerator; One employee found a four-inch fetus in the garbage disposal; After Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspectors found non-compliance, Knarr still did not conform to safety regulations; Cash paid for abortions often was unaccounted for; Knarr appeared to be high on drugs on several occasions; Knarr once completed abortions after stating that he was not alert due to the ingestion of drugs; Knarr ingested Talwin from sample packages;

One employee heard Knarr phoning prescriptions for Xanax for himself and another employee; A Wal-Mart pharmacist told one employee that he would not accept prescriptions from Knarr due to an investigation for over-prescribing drugs; Some employees smoked marijuana at a picnic at Knarr's house; and One of his employees used methamphetamine during work hours.

A news article stated that the owner of the building housing Knarr's abortion mill filed suit against him because he "represented to the plaintiff that he would be operating a family practice when in fact it was his intention to operate an abortion clinic," and that operating the abortion clinic instead of a family practice office would require changes in plumbing to meet building codes, resulting in a threat by the city to cut off water to all of the tenants in the building, and failure by Knarr to pay the plaintiff expenses incurred as a result of operating his abortion clinic.
