Help us identify potential safety improvements for railroad crossings in Durham.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is studying potential improvements to 18 railroad crossings between Neal Road and Cornwallis Road in Durham (refer to map for crossing locations). Safety improvements may include new or upgraded crossing equipment, new roadway overpasses or underpasses and railroad crossing closures. NCDOT is partnering with the City of Durham, Triangle Transit, and Norfolk Southern to conduct the study. 1. What streets do you typically travel to cross the railroad tracks in the area?
2. Are there any street/railroad crossings in the area that you avoid using? If so, why?

3. Are you aware of any safety issues at or near railroad crossings between Neal Road and Cornwallis Road?
Please specify the crossing location(s) and explain the types of safety issues you have encountered or seen. Example safety issues: traffic backups, need for enhanced signs or signals, car/pedestrian/bicycle accidents
4. Which safety improvements do you feel would be most beneficial along this railroad corridor?
