Rep. Phillips Attends Opening of Auto Parts Production Site Slated to Create Over 60 Jobs in McConnelsville Ohio provided Miba Group more than $3.8 million in incentives to assist production site expansion
COLUMBUS- State Rep. Debbie Phillips (D-Athens) today attended a ceremony opening a new auto parts production site in McConnelsville that will create more than 60 jobs and expand industry in Southeast Ohio. Miba Group opened a new production site for sintered components and a new production line for high-performance engine bearings that will help the company continue to produce energy-efficient engine and transmission components for the North American market. ³I am thrilled that Miba was able to take advantage of our state incentives and use state support to create jobs and expand industry in our corner of the state,´ Rep. Phillips said. ³Development and expansion such as this will not only put our men and women back to work, but will help Ohio gain a strong foothold in the automobile industry of tomorrow.´ Construction of the new site, which was built alongside the sister plant Miba Bearings US, began in 2009. At the first stage of expansion, Miba is running two production lines where 60 employees will produce an output of 4 million parts per year. Ohio provided more than $3.8 million in state incentives to assist with Miba Sinter¶s expansion project. ³With Governor Strickland¶s leadership, Ohio is making progress in bringing business and jobs back to our state,´ Rep. Phillips said. ³The expansion of the Miba auto parts plant is one of the ways we are laying a strong foundation for economic growth as we recover from the national recession and prosperity down the road.´ Together with the new sinter site, a new production line for high-performance engine bearings is being opened, which also creates new job opportunities in McConnelsville. Almost $14 million has been invested in the new engine bearings production line, which produces lead-free engine bearings for use in a new generation of heavy-duty truck engines. Customers are producers of truck diesel engines in America. The new production line has a yearly output of 4 million parts. In the future, about 70,000 engines per year will be equipped with main and conrod bearings from the new production site. -30-
