Repetitive strain injury
How Provailen can help?

Introduction and background Repetitive strain injury or RSI is a generalized or combined terminology that includes more than twenty different types of arthritis involving the muscles, bones and the joints. Some examples of the RSI are tendonitis (inflammation of muscle tendons) carpal tunnel syndrome, bursitis, Trigger finger and cumulative Trauma Disorders (CTDs).

What causes repetitive strain injury? In most cases, a repetitive strain injury occurs because of the continuous overuse and “wear and tear” on the same organs or parts of the body. Therefore, work-related (or occupational) Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs) are considered as one of the most common types of RSI.

What are the risk factors?
Typically, a repetitive strain injury will occur because of the presence of one or more of the following risk factors: A static or improper body posture: Any change of all or part of the body can result in a static or improper body posture. Examples of such improper body postures may include stopping, twisting, bending, reaching above shoulder level, reaching behind the body and bending the wrist forward, backward or side to side. Repetition: Any movements that are repetitive, regular or consistent bear the risk of causing an RSI especially when they involve the same joints, on daily basis and at multiple times. Excessive force: All of our physical acts cannot be performed or practiced without using some significant amount of force. If the force required to perform the act overstresses the muscles, joints, tendons and other soft tissues, it is will be known as an “excessive” (more than needed) force. Some examples of excessive forces include tight gripping, pinching, computer typing for long hours, weight handling, jobs requiring stretching of limbs etc.,. Vibrations: Any hand / arm vibration resulting from power driven hand tools e.g. jack hammers, air guns and chain saws OR any total body vibration resulting from the use of heavy tools or equipment may lead to RSI.

How is RSI treated?
There are multiple treatment modalities that should be used simultaneously to treat or prevent RSI including: Proper body ergonomics: It is imperative to follow proper body ergonomics especially at the workplace so to avoid unnecessary and long repetitive movements and awkward body postures and vibrations. A proper workplace policy, therefore, should be implemented for suitable sitting, standing and working positions. Medications: Medical or allopathic drugs such as analgesics (pain killers) can help but only temporarily and for short term and are often associated with serious side effects. Alternative treatments: Naturopathic treatments such as Yoga, meditation, hydrotherapy and physical therapy can also help. However, they are most effective when used in conjunction with some “main” mode of treatment such as medical therapy or herbal therapy.

How Provailen can help?
When it comes to repetitive strain injuries, a safe and organic natural herbal arthritis-specefic supplement can greatly help in the following two aspects: i) By improving the symptoms: It has also been shown that Provailen can actually provide rapid resolution and relief of symptoms (including pain, swelling and stiffening) in almost all kinds of RSI.

ii) By addressing the root cause of the problem: Provailen also addresses the “origin” of the problem i.e. effects produced by the bad posture, excessive force or long vibrations, by structurally modifying the muscles, tendons, ligaments and other soft tissues of and around the affected joints. This results in swift elimination of the real cause of the problem.
