REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILL

The Reproductive Health Bill, popularly known as the RH Bill, it is the Philippine
Bill promoting information on and access to both natural and modern family planning
methods. They proposed the RH Bill in the Justice Committee of the Philippines
because of our uncontrolled population growth. RH Bill is the only solution in our
population growth problem. The first time that Reproductive Health Bill was proposed
was in 1998. During the present 15th Congress, the RH Bill filed are those authored by
six members of the House of Representatives, and Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago
of the senate. On January 31, 2011, there bills were consolidated into a single RH Bill
which was then unanimously approved for plenary debate by the house committee on
Population and Family Relations. One of the main concerns of the bill is that the
population of the Philippine makes it “the 12 most Populous nation in the world today”,
that the Filipino women’s fertility rate is “at the upper bracket of 206 countries.” It states
that studies and surveys shows” that the Filipinos are responsive to having smaller-
sized families through free choice of family planning methods.” It also refers to studies
which “show that rapid population growth exacerbates poverty while poverty spawns
rapid population growth.” And so it aims for improve quality of life through a “consistent
and coherent national population policy.”

The RH Bill constitutes the information and access to natural and modern family
planning, maternal, infant and child health and nutrition, promotion of breast feeding,
prevention of abortion and management of post-abortion complications, adolescent and
youth health, prevention and management of reproductive tract infections, such as
HIV/AIDS and STD’s, elimination of violence againts women, counselling on sexuality
and sexual and reproductive health, treatment of breast and reproductive tract cancers,

male involvement and participation in RH, prevention and treatment of infertility and RH
education for the youth. And basically, it introduces the use of contraciptives.

The term “contraceptive" denotes anything that can prevent the pregnancy of
women’s such as Birth Control Pills(BcPs) and IUDs. The other one is the Family
Planning Methods. It can also help us to less the percentage of the pregnancy of our
women’s in our country. It can also aid our problem in the poverty because uncontrolled
population can also affect our living. It may result in a hard and bad way of living such
as, children’s cannot avail the enough nutrition they can have and also the good
education. Their Health is also affected of this. If every family will practice this kind of
method their way of living would be easy, they cannot work hard for a long period of
time, and they have much enough time to their children’s.

And even though RH Bill can help us in our living and may result to a good and
easy quality of life, the catholic church is not in favor of this, because they believe that it
is contradict in the commandment’s of God. One of the reason they disapprove of this
because of abortion. Abortion would be legalized. And also they believe that if RH bill
will approved all of the adult and together with the adolesence can have contraceptives
like condom’s and pills. Many of the teenager will be involve in the primarital sex. RH
Bill can hepl us in our living but it can aslo give us problems, its our choice how we can
handle the situition and how we controll our selve’s.
