RICS helping NPS to maintain a
vibrant and dynamic workforce

NPS Group delivers a comprehensive and flexible range of property
consultancy services tailored to meet the needs of both public and
private sector clients across the UK.
With its vibrant and dynamic workforce, the
company is keen to support its employees to
achieve chartered membership of professional
bodies, and it continually reviews their progress.
Two key ways RICS helps NPS to support its staff
are through the use of RICS Rewards and isurv.
RICS Rewards has helped the company maximise
their training budgets and now all RICS training,
whether open courses, lunch time seminars or
in-house training attracts a 20% discount.
Gillian Page, Talent Development Consultant at
NPS explained: “This has enabled us to provide
more support for our employees and build
valuable CPD hours. It has been especially helpful
for our APC candidates. We purchase a number
of Rewards and then use these to fund RICS
CPD and training. RICS help us monitor the use
of these Rewards and we are able to top up our
account as necessary. It has worked really well
and has been easy to administer.”

NPS used RICS Rewards to commission an
in-house course for their Kendal office on NEC3
Contracts. The training used real life case studies,
practical information and group exercises to
demonstrate how to correctly administer NEC
contracts, and master key factors including
pricing and negotiating terms.
David Clements, Group Director of NPS North
West commented: “The training was particularly
valuable by virtue of the speed and efficiency with
which the principles could be assimilated, thus
avoiding the risk of being behind the pace on a
live contract.”
NPS also has a corporate licence for isurv which
staff can access at any time via a link on the
company’s intranet. This gives staff immediate
access to current information by discipline on
industry standards, case law, RICS Red Book,
legislative changes, document templates and
much more. isurv has proved invaluable for

RICS Matrics is dynamic, forward thinking, and enables its members
to grow and feel like an integral part of the wider RICS. This similar
philosophy is shared with NPS Group. We feel early career staff
add value to the organisation, and allow the company to develop a
workforce with new and innovative ideas.

Laura Atton, of the Estate
and Asset Team in NPS’s
Humber office, qualified as
a chartered surveyor earlier
this year. She said: “RICS
membership is the mark of
property professionalism and
gaining your chartered status
is an important step. Over
the past few years, the company has helped to
train and prepare me for the APC interview and
my current role. I am very grateful for the support
I have received, and proud to be part of such a
professional team.”

Many of the company’s APC candidates and
newly qualified staff also attend local Matrics
events and find these very beneficial both for
CPD and as an opportunity to network with
other RICS members and professionals.

staff working towards their chartered membership
of RICS.

NPS is dedicated to ensuring that their RICS
registered staff meet CPD commitments. By
assisting those who have qualified and those
who are working towards RICS professional
status to undertake the required level of CPD
throughout the year, NPS helps guarantee that
its staff remain professionally competent and
are able to achieve their potential.

Oliver Tyndall, NPS Building
Surveyor based in Norwich,
began studying towards
RICS qualification this year.
Now six months into his APC
preparations, he said: “My

I’m getting all of the relevant
experience I require, whilst making sure that I
am recording past experience correctly. I’m able
to consult with other recently qualified members
of staff for guidance and recommendations for
