Who is a teacher?
•A person who provides education to pupils and students
•A mentor, guide and philosopher

Role of a teacher
•Often formal and ongoing
•Carried out at a school or an educational institute

Although, not only limited to school
•Job scope encompasses government assigned duties and
administrative work
“A teacher is a social servant”

Teacher’s Role
Two broad categories:
• Instruction, Socialization and Evaluation

•Motivating pupils, maintaining control and creating an
environment for learning

Teacher works as:
• An instructional input
• A manager
• A facilitator
• A counselor
• A part of the community

As an Instructional Input

• Complex environment with deliberately designed environment
• Pupils interact with the environment
• To learn pre-specified objective

• Observe students to sense any unusual behavior, which may
indicate trouble
• Most importantly, be objective in any situation
