(Level 2) LANGUAGE CONTENT: Sound System Word List Grammar Item/s : Stress and intonation of words and phrases (example: harvest festival, beauty contest) : Spirits, blessings, harvest, festival, native, celebrations, worship, ancient, contest : Uncountable nouns and articles.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of the session, learners will be able to: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. In pairs/groups, given a reading text, read aloud sentences in the text with minimal errors in stress and intonation. Individually, based on a given stimulus, write 6 simple sentences about „Pesta Kaamatan‟ celebration in Sabah, with minimal errors. (Advanced Group) Individually, given sentence halves, match and write these 6 sentences correctly. (Average Group) Individually, given a substitution table, write 6 sentences correctly. (Weak Group) In group of 4 or 5, from the text, identify and re-write sentences which contain conjunction and articles. Individually, given a stimulus, asks (and answers) „Wh‟ and other forms of questions to seek information with minimal errors. (Level 1and 2)

AFFECTIVE OBJECTIVES: 1. 2. Pupils would learn about festivals in Malaysia such as Pesta Kaamatan. Pupils would learn the important of unity by getting knowledge of other culture.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: 1. 2. 3. Pupils have seen other festival celebration eg: Hari Raya celebration. Pupils have already fairly mastered the lower-order and some higher-order thinking skills. Pupils have had gone through a few sessions in conjunctions and articles.

Whole class Activity: 1) Teacher shows several pictures about „Pesta Kaamatan‟ in Sabah. 2) Teacher asks learners what they can see in the picture. Teacher briefly explains about the pictures. 3) Teacher guides the learners to imagine the situation during the celebration. 4) Teacher might ask some questions such as: a) What can you see in the picture? b) Why they celebrate „Pesta Kaamatan‟? c) When they celebrate „Pesta Kaamatan‟? Rationale: To draw pupils attention to the topic. To draw on pupils previous knowledge.
