Northern Arizona University in Yuma Local Area Scholarships
2009-2010
 F.E. & Olga Elliott, Sr., Memorial Scholarship was established in 1991 and provides financial assistance to worthy students attending the Yuma campus who are; residents of Yuma or La Paz County, will enroll for the upcoming academic year as an undergraduate student for at least nine credit hours, have at least 36 credit hours completed from a college or university, have a cumulative gpa of 2.5.  NAU in Yuma Faculty/Staff Scholarship provides financial assistance to worthy students attending the Yuma campus who are; residents of Yuma County, will enroll in at least six credit hours per semester, an undergraduate or graduate student, have completed 36 credit hours at a college or university, have a cumulative gpa of 3.0. The Western Newspapers, Inc., and Soldwedel Trust Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 and provides financial assistance to worthy students attending NAU in Yuma or AWC. Applicants must: be a Yuma County High School graduate, pursuing an associates degree from Arizona Western College and a baccalaureate degree from NAU in Yuma, have a cumulative gpa of 2.5, be pursuing a degree that is either a business and/or communications related major. Crowe-Elkins Memorial Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to worthy students from Yuma or La Paz Counties attending the Yuma campus, applicants must; have completed 36 credit hours at a college or university, have a cumulative gpa of 2.5, be a criminal justice major. NAU in Yuma Plaza of Honor Scholarship was established in 1996 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to worthy students pursuing a baccalaureate degree by attending Arizona Western College and Northern Arizona University in Yuma. Applicants must; enroll in AWC, NAU in Yuma or a combination of the two, have completed at least 30 credit hours at an accredited college or university, have a cumulative gpa of at least 3.0. The value of the awards will be based on the grade level of the recipient, and is renewable for up to six consecutive semesters contingent upon the recipient completing at least nine semester hours per semester with either institution and maintaining a cumulative gpa of 3.0. Harold L. and Marion L. Elliott Scholarship was established in 2000, and provides financial assistance to worthy students attending the Yuma campus. Applicants must; be residents of Yuma or La Paz County, enroll for a minimum of 9 credit hours, be a junior or senior undergraduate student or a graduate student, have a cumulative gpa of 3.0. Shadle Family Trust Scholarship was established in 1997 and provides financial assistance to worthy students attending Northern Arizona University. Applicants must: be a Yuma County High School graduate, pursing a baccalaureate or graduate degree, have a cumulative gpa of 2.5. Pacesetter Home Center Scholarship was established in 2002, and provides financial assistance to worthy students attending Northern Arizona University in Yuma. Applicants must be a Yuma County resident, be enrolled in the AWC/NAU partnership, majoring in education and have a min cumulative gpa of 3.0.













Local area scholarships are available to all students, at all academic levels. You must be admitted to NAU to be considered for any of these scholarships. All students, new and continuing, should submit a 2009-2010 application for NAU in Yuma Scholarships. The deadline for submitting this application is March 20, 2009. File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the federal processor as soon as possible, (www.fafsa.edu.gov) if you wish to be considered for need based scholarships.

Instructions for Application
1. Detach and type the attached APPLICATION, sign and date. Incomplete or handwritten applications will NOT be considered. 2. Write a PERSONAL STATEMENT (one-page typed) which includes the following: • Community Service and extracurricular activities • Educational and career goals • An explanation of why you want or need this scholarship. 3. Obtain and attach COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS. Continuing college students, attach a copy of your transcript for each college previously attended or currently attending that includes the Fall 2008 grades. Unofficial copies are acceptable. Mail or deliver scholarship applications to: NAU Yuma Local Area Scholarships c/o NAU Yuma, Office of Enrollment Services P.O. Box 6236 Yuma, AZ 85366-6236 Completed applications must be received by the Office of Academic and Student Services by 5:00pm March 20, 2009. By completing the attached application you are automatically submitted into the general pool of all local area scholarships. This means you only need to complete one application to be considered for all those listed above.
