Sunway Scholarships
TERMS & CONDITIONS
For Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship and Continuing Scholarship 1. The scholarship is offered strictly to full-time registered students at Sunway College. 2. Offer of scholarship will only be made when the Institution receives the actual results. (Academic certificate validity is 2 years prior to joining Sunway College). 3. Scholarship is awarded in the form of deduction on tuition fee. 4. The scholarship is neither transferable nor exchangeable for cash. 5. The scholarship will be terminated upon completion of the study period specified by Sunway College. 6. Students receiving scholarships from other bodies are not eligible for this scholarship. 7. The final decision to grant a scholarship is at the sole discretion of the Scholarship Committee of Sunway College. 8. English 1119 will not be considered when granting the scholarship. 9. All scholarship recipients must attend the scholarship ceremony to receive the scholarship. 10. Students must meet the programme entry point prior to be eligible for scholarship. 11. Sunway College reserves the right to change the Terms & Conditions of the scholarships as and when required without prior notice. 12. For students who are eligible for several forms of discount by Sunway Education Group or Sunway Group (e.g. Staff Discount, Sibling Discount, others), the scholarship awarded will be applicable on the net balance of the tuition fee payable after the deduction of the relevant discount/bursary. 13. Applicants may accept only one scholarship at a time. 14. In the event of a dispute on the eligibility for the scholarship, the decision made by the Scholarship Committee is final. 15. Sunway College reserves the right to involve the scholarship recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography or other publicity related activities for the purpose of promoting the educational institution. For Pre-University / Foundation Programmes: 1. Disbursement of scholarship: - 1 year programme. The disbursement of scholarship will be implemented in the 2nd semester of the programme. - 1.5 year programme. The disbursement of Scholarship will be distributed in equal amount between 2nd Semester and 3rd Semester of the programme. For full scholars, any reimbursement applicable will be made upon successful completion of the programme. 2. Full scholars need not make further semester tuition fee payments upon securing the scholarship. Any excess amount paid in the first semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the programme. 3. Scholarship for full scholars apply to the following: tuition fees for Australian Matriculation (5 subjects), Cambridge GCE A Levels (3 subjects), Canadian International Matriculation Programme (up to 6 subjects only), Monash University Foundation Year (8 units only) and Foundation in Arts (Core Subject: 6, Academic Elective: 3, Enrichment Subject: 5). For Degree Programmes: 1. The scholarship will be implemented from the 1st semester of the programme onwards. 2. Scholars are required to reapply for the continuation of the scholarship through Student Services Department on a yearly basis. 3. There shall be no upgrading of scholarships. 4. Decision on the continuation of the scholarship is at the sole discretion of the Head of Department of the respective programme and the Scholarship Committee. 5. For UEC scholars: - Results for all subjects must be at least C and above - Points are calculated based on 5 subjects, exclusive of Chinese, Chinese Literature, Art and non-academic subjects 6. Scholars must maintain the following minimum grades as part of the criteria to continue the scholarship: - Scholars on 25% scholarship must meet a minimum of 60% grade average - Scholars on 50% scholarship must meet a minimum of 65% grade average For Continuing Scholarship: 1. Students receiving this scholarship are not eligible for the 10% continuous bursary. 2. This scholarship is only available to Sunway University/ Sunway College students (Malaysian & international) who have completed either a Pre-University, Diploma or Foundation programme with Sunway University, Sunway College, Sunway College JB and Sunway College Ipoh. 3. The scholarship will be implemented from the 1st semester of the programme onwards. 4. Scholars are required to reapply for the continuation of the scholarship through Student Services Department on a yearly basis. 5. There shall be no upgrading of scholarships. 6. Decision on continuation of the scholarship is at the sole discretion of the Head of Department of the respective programme and the Scholarship Committee. 7. Scholars must maintain the following minimum grades as part of the criteria for continuing scholarships: a. Scholars on 30% scholarship must meet a minimum of 60% grade average. b. Scholars on 50% scholarship must meet a minimum of 65% grade average. c. Scholars on 75% scholarship must meet a minimum of 70% grade average.
