ELEMENTARY PROGRAM DESIGN

Student body: Children 5-12 years of age Hours: Monday thru Friday 8:00am ± 3:00pm Mission statement: Sunbeams Pre-k will lead today¶s children of diverse cultures, backgrounds into reaching entelechy into a brighter and secure tomorrow by providing a fundamental pillar of education

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
‡ Students will have an hour of physical education. ‡ Different physical games will be played ex: kickball, t-ball, flag football. ‡ Mats will be provided to teach students how to stretch their muscles.

Students with learning disabilities
‡ There will be physical activities for children with disabilities. ‡ There will be a ping pong table for children in wheelchairs. ‡ ROMaerobics- activity using multiple discipline of music, physical education, speech, physical or occupational therapy, and even art together, interactively.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
‡ There will be a library available for every student to use. Students will be allowed to check books out. ‡ We will have board games that are appropriate for each age group. This will allow them to problem solve independently and work in teams.

EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
‡ There will be a drama department so the children can continue with role play. ‡ There will also be an arts department to allow children to express themselves.

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
‡ Each class will allow for students to work in groups. This will teach them how to work and overcome obstacles as a team. ‡ There will be a music department. This will teach students that in order to make music, they need to work together.

Multiple Intelligences
‡ Linguistic intelligence- the drama department will be of benefit to this. ‡ Logical-mathematical intelligence- the board games will be of benefit. ‡ Musical intelligence- the music class will be useful to this intelligence. ‡ Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence- the physical education class will help these learners.
