SCENE 3: Medium shot of the backs of two kids heads sitting on a sofa (14 year old girl, 12 year old boy). TV is on. Kids have iPads and video game controller in hands. Mom: Kids? Kids: Mmmmmm… Uhhhhhhh…. (grunts and groans) Mom walks to the front of the couch, looks at her kids. SCENE 4: Close up of kids in zombie face make-up… dark under-eye circles; vacant stares. Kids: Unnhhhh… hhmmmm… ugghhh Mom looks at all the electronics. Mom: Have you been playing video games and watching television ALL DAY?! Kids: uugghhhhhh… Mom: What’s happened to you?!

Mom picks up phone and dials. Mom: Hi this is Anita, Anita Readmore. I need to get my kids in to see the doctor RIGHT away. Something’s terribly wrong… SCENE 7: Medium shot. Doctor’s office with Mom, kids and Doctor. Doctor: Hello Ms. Readmore. I’m Dr. Bookman, your Lotsaknowledgist. Doctor examines the children. Doctor: Ah ha. Um hm. Yes. I see… Mom: Doctor, what is it? What’s wrong with my children? Doctor: As you know, I specialize in Lotsaknowledgy, and I’ve seen several cases of this recently. Ms. Readmore, brace yourself. I’m afraid your children have something called… SCENE 8: Cut to close up of doctor. Doctor: … ZOMBIE-TECHNO-MITOSIS SCENE 9: Cut to same clip of Mom’s exaggerated B-movie scream from Scene 4. SCENE 10: Back to medium shot of doctor. Doctor: Zombietechnomitosis results from overuse of electronics. Playing video games, watching TV or texting on cell phones for hours on end can result in this terrible disorder. The symptoms are vacant stares, grunting, and loss of brain function. If left untreated, it can potentially lead to the desire to consume other people’s brains. Now don’t get me wrong Ms. Readmore, technology is amazing. It makes our lives more convenient. It enables students to be more productive, and it empowers teachers to teach beyond the restrictions of textbooks and classrooms. We all need to know how to use and enjoy technology, but it’s important to take regular breaks and “unplug” if you will. I’m going to write a prescription. Be sure to follow the directions carefully, and your kids should be back to normal in no time! Doctor scribbles long and exaggeratedly on a pad, tears off page, and hands to Mom. SCENE 11: Close up of Mom with eyebrow raised reading the prescription.

SCENE 12: Close up of prescription. “READ A BOOK” SCENE 13: Long shot. Mom and kids walk into a library. SCENE 14: Medium shot. A Librarian greets them. Librarian: Hi, can I help you with anything? Mom: Yes! My kids need to read books! Librarian looks at kids and assesses the situation. Librarian: Ahhh yes. I’ve seen several cases of this recently. I think I can help you. Librarian addresses kids: Hi kids! Let’s find out what you’re interested in, so I can help you find a book you might really enjoy. Librarian addressing girl: Do you have any particular hobbies? Girl: Unnnhhhhh… Librarian: What television shows to you enjoy? And what are your favorite types of movies? Scary? Girl: (slightly shaking head “no”) Unnnnhhh… Librarian: Oh, I’ll bet you like romance! Girl: (slightly shaking head “yes”) Unnnnhhh… Librarian addressing boy: And how about you? I’ll bet you like sports! Boy: (slightly shaking head “yes”) Unnnhhhmmmm… Librarian: Soccer? Boy: (slightly shaking head “no”) MMmmmggghh… Librarian: Basketball!

Boy: (slightly excited) uuuggghhhh.. Librarian: Okay then! I have a great place to start! I’ll be right back! Librarian rushes off. SCENE 15: Librarian returns with books in hand. Kids are seated at a table. She introduces book titles and brief summaries and hands to kids. Kids try to push buttons on the books, and turn them around like they are trying to find the charger. The librarian demonstrates how to use a book in an oversimplified fashion. Librarian: It doesn’t have any buttons, you don’t have to charge it up or plug it in. This is how you open it. This is how you turn a page… SCENE 16: Time lapse one hour. Clock showing minute hand rotate quickly once around. SCENE 17: Close up of kids sitting at table engaged in their books with healthy faces and big smiles. Mom is relieved. Mom: Oh thank you! Thank you so much! Librarian: We have lots more great books where those came from. The secret to wanting to read is simple. You just need to find something you really enjoy! Now remember, take breaks from all those electronics every day. Get outside and do something fun, and READ a little every day. It’s the best prevention for ZOMBIETECHNOMITOSIS! Librarian: Now Mom, what do you say we find you something too. I’ll bet you would enjoy unwinding with a nice mystery novel! Librarian leads happy Mom towards the books. SCENE 17: Fade-in upbeat music. Credit slide/s. Fade-out music.
