SEASONS GREETING.

The Relief Bus exists to connect the poor, oppressed, and addicted with a path towards help and hope. Through outreach partnerships, we seek to be a bridge between human need and resources to meet those needs. These things we do… that others may live.

Best Wishes from Steve and Christine, Mario and The Relief Bus. As we transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas the need for love and companionship increases out on the streets. Temperatures drop and I am noticing more people come to The Bus at all locations. Just this past Tuesday at Love Gospel we helped 6 people in the office. As you may or may not know office visits at The Relief Bus are normally are more intense. When a guest comes into the office they are in need of emergency shelter, detox or re-hab or may be in the middle of present crisis moment. Many times we are the first sane people they may come in contact with on the street. Here is just one story from the first Tuesday in December. Carlos and Kenya came into the office to find help for Kenya’s 58 year old dad for his crack addiction. They were also in need of some medical help and food pantry assistance for them selves. As I looked I found a drug rehab in Syracuse, Ny called teen challenge. Teen Challenge is a Christian based rehab that helps men of all ages reclaim their dignity from life controlling issue’s and challenges. The typical stay is between 12-15 months. Once we found dad a place the focus went on this young couple. Carlos and Kenya go to church in Manhattan and even volunteer regularly with their church feeding the homeless. But after praying for Kenya’s dad it appeared we were ready to move along to the next person needing help.

(Carlos and Kenya continued.) That all changed when The Holy Spirit
touched Kenya and she asked for personal prayer for her Pot smoking habit. She felt convicted and ashamed because she was going to church and helping other while not walking a perfect life. Kenya was very open about wanting to change the things she was doing, The fact that she smoked pot since she was 9 years old and now was 30. She didn’t want to smoke for another 20 years. She wanted to make changes in her life and do it now
