WORK EXPERIENCE / SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
IT Director, Support Services, AAA Life Insurance Company, Livonia, Michigan, 2012 to 2015.
(AAA Life Insurance is the privately held entity of several of the largest AAA Clubs offering personal
life insurance, annuities and accident insurance with over 1M policies in force, 15-year annualized
growth of over 15% and 500 employees.)
As part of the top leadership for AAA Life, I had direct oversight for the Network Infrastructure,
Technical Analysis and Controls, Data Center Operations and Desktop Support teams. Developed
the strategic organizational structure of each of the Support Services teams while providing
mentoring and leadership development to team members. Interfaced closely with the business to
ensure appropriate regulatory compliance while facilitating business objectives. Provided regular
technical update presentations to Executive Management as well as IT Staff. Strived for operational
excellence through identification and management of Key Performance Indicators. Managed staff of
27 and annual IT capital and expense budget of $12 million.

Significant Accomplishments:
 Identified opportunity to replace 3 non-integrated voice systems with a single enterprise VoIP
system with full Unified Communications capabilities. Upgrade completed for 500 users in
about 1 year with no interruption to the business and an estimated payback of 2.4 years.
 Led team and efforts to implement significant Disaster Recovery Transformation from tape to
disk-based offsite backups and full business recovery in 8 months for over 50TBs of data as a
result of my influence with executive management to appreciate the importance of minimizing
our risk and recovery times in the event of a disaster.
 Implemented an ITIL-based IT Service Management and Help Desk system (SaaS) providing
centralized and user-friendly incident and problem management and ticketing services company
wide resulting in significant improvements in IT processes and Customer Service.
 Implemented several new technologies and processes including: Network Operations Center,
Wireless Networking, Secured Network Infrastructure and the VM and Data Storage
environments, each of which provided improvements in productivity and IT system efficiencies.
 Successful in ensuring operational best practices were implemented and consistently followed
through IT’s involvement in corporate efforts such as PCI, MAR, Enterprise Risk Management
and ITIL by garnering support from my IT teams and the business.
Division Director, Enterprise Computing & Infrastructure, Department of Technology (DoT),
Wayne County Michigan, 2009 to 2012. (Wayne County is the most populous County in Michigan
with about 1.8M residents in 43 communities served by 12 county departments and approximately
4,000 employees.)
Had direct oversight of core operational service units for DoT: Network Operations, Enterprise
Computing, Telecommunications, Desktop Support, Business Continuity and Security. Primary
technical management lead for the consolidation of major County services into single historical
facility under restoration. Directed comprehensive project plans and coordinated critical activities of
multiple cross-functional teams. Managed staff of 20 managers, contractors and civil servants.
Significant Accomplishments:
 Major Facility Move: Led project teams that implemented comprehensive, new network
infrastructure for restored County facility including Security, VoIP, Wireless LAN and LAN
technologies for 500 people in 4 months.
 Successfully managed the full migration of the County’s e-mail system from Novell GroupWise
to Microsoft Exchange for 3,200 users in 6 months with no interruption to business operations.
 Managed upgrade of the WAN to MPLS for over 40 County locations, significantly improving
network performance and reliability while controlling costs.
Federal-Mogul Corporation, a $7.3B Fortune 500 Tier-1 parts supplier with over 50,000 employees
in 34 countries providing OE and Aftermarket components for automotive, heavy-duty, industrial and
transport applications.
IT Project Manager, 2008 to 2009. Led the standardization of Manufacturing Execution Systems
(MES). Conducted plant-wide technology needs assessments, identifying opportunities for efficiency
improvements. Served as technical lead on industrial networking strategies. Directed North
American projects and provided assistance on global projects. Managed 2 staff and $1M budget.

Global IT Network Convergence Manager, 2006 to 2008. Provided expertise in global network
technologies and operations. Designed, evaluated, assessed and established standards for LAN,
WLAN, WAN and IP Telephony (IPT / VoIP) infrastructures. Aligned IT strategy with business
requirements. Managed 10 staff and $4.5M budget.
Significant Accomplishments:
 Integrating global, system-wide software: Under direction of CIO, IT department worked to
implement SAP globally throughout the company. Managed installation of certified networks for
all in-scope locations, upgrading facilities where necessary. Completed infrastructure upgrades
prior to final user testing for 20 global sites in just over one year.
 Capturing savings: Successfully directed a cross-functional team from corporate Purchasing, IT
Vendor Management and Networking on an RFP project to select the corporate network cabling
vendor. Saved company $250K during first year.
Global IT Vendor Relationship Manager, 2005 to 2006. Pioneered the development and
management of the IT Vendor Relationship Management team. Directed all aspects of team,
including contract negotiation and vendor performance. Worked closely with corporate legal,
purchasing and IT finance teams. Managed 2 staff.
Significant Accomplishments:
 Standardizing processes and procedures: The Vendor Relationship Management Group was
responsible for reviewing, approving and finalizing over 300 to 400 IT contracts annually with an
average turnaround time of 21 to 28 days.
 Created and implemented Master Services Agreements and Statement of Work templates to
streamline process. Utilized IT service contract templates over 70% of time, reducing contract
turnaround time to 7 days.
Network Infrastructure Manager, 2000 to 2005. Charged with full support of LAN standards,
design and management of corporate and remote location network upgrades. Network lead in
performing confidential due diligence for acquisitions and mergers. Negotiated and coordinated
strategic vendor relationships. Managed 4 staff.
Significant Accomplishments:
 Outsourcing of IT functions: To cut IT costs globally, Federal-Mogul considered outsourcing six
major areas of IT. Led global network team in two-year analysis, determining it was not effective
to outsource. Worked with corporate team in outsourcing global help desk functions, delivering
$1.5M in one-time savings and $1M in annual savings.
 Consolidating Data Center: As a core team member, led the network portion of the
consolidation of a major data center operation effort. Developed project and test plans, actively
participated in all "dry run" tests and assisted the lead project manager in the overall project
management. Ultimately, the consolidation project saved the company approximately $750K
annually.
