September 17 - The first planning meeting for Tingley’s 2012 Halloween celebration is to be held Wednesday, September 19 at the community building. Watch the paper for more details as plans are made. The Just-4-Fun appreciation supper for the meal site will be held Wednesday, September 26 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the community building. Nothing to bring ... just yourself. What a full day Friday, September 21 will be at the meal site. Friday Singers will be there to entertain at 11 a.m., the Ringgold County Public Health will have

someone there to take blood pressures and Joe Drake, superintendent will share information about the Mount Ayr Community school system at around 11:45 a.m. He will answer any questions people have for him. Everyone was saddened when they discovered that Ken Halm had passed away over the weekend. He will be missed in Tingley. You could find him headed for the Tingley meal site every Monday, Tuesday and Friday. He probably came the furthest of anyone who comes regularly. Services were held Wednesday at Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Sympathy is extended to his family. Last Monday was a quiet day for the site. Lots of cards played and fellowship enjoyed. Site council met with Sharon Case, Irma Johnston, Marge Werner and Nancy Jarred present. September 26 was set for the annual appreciation supper. Marge Werner shared jokes every day from a book brought by Dorothy Burgher. Tuesday was hectic. The site’s cook, Cheryl Roach, was absent to keep a doctor’s appointment in Des Moines. Again, with volunteers, especially George and Naomi Hosfield, meals and activities went on as usual. They and all the volunteers’ assistance is appreciated every day. Being Tuesday, the band was there to entertain. Peggy Skarda was on the keyboard as the accompanist, along with Harold Brown, Marge Werner, Pauline Murphy, Iona Triggs, Dorothy Clough, Bonnie Manders, Dave Patch, Mary Jane Narigon, Dave and Wilmina Jennings and Dick and Virginia Walden. They were practicing for playing in the park at Ellston on Sunday. Music makes the other work go better. Friday the site’s cook was back and a big number of Friday Singers were present. Darlene Morgan was the accompanist, Bonnie Manners the director, along with Pauline Murphy, Marge Werner, Connie Huff, Dorothy Clough, Harold Brown, Mary Jane Narigon, Iona Triggs, Dorothy Burgher, Dave

and Marge Patch, Bill and Norma Webb and Dave and Wilmina Jennings. They sure sounded good. Happy belated birthday wishes were extended to Dorothy Clough who observed her birthday September 13. Happy anniversary wishes were extended to Gary and Dorothy Burgher who observed their 51st wedding anniversary on September 15. It was good to welcome Ken and Phyllis Robison back on Friday. They came to attend the dance being held in Tingley that evening.

September 17 - Summer is about over and it sounds like the weather will be a little cooler also. There have been some pretty nice days and the farmers are really working at getting the corn out. Monday started off with exercise and Jeani reading some short stories from the Reminisce magazine. Scott Marcum was the Bible study leader Monday afternoon. All enjoyed cookies and drinks after the lesson. Everyone came to the living room Tuesday morning to play penny pitch and a game of find it. Several items were put in a bag and the residents drew a card and had to find that item in the bag by feeling for it. There was a minute timer and many of them did it in just a few seconds. Jean Haidsiak won the penny pitch and Gladys, Cotty, Clara and Jeane England found the
