EQUIPMENT NEEDED: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Dedicated PC capable of running Windows XP, ME, 2000 or Vista. Broadband Connection (Cable, DSL, etc.). Dedicated Scanner. Mini Audio cable for Receiver to Aux or Mic Input (Radio Shack). ShoutCAST Software Click to Download ShoutCAST.
Before you start be sure that you have contacted Tom @ ScanCT.com and that you have received a PASSWORD, PORT NUMBER, FEED NUMBER, SOFTWARE REGISTRATION # and SERVER IP ADDRESS. You will need these before you start installation. From the E-Mail you received, record the details below. PASSWORD: PORT #: FEED #: REGISTRATION #: SERVER IP ADDRESS: 1. a. Download and Install SimpleCAST software. b. Run the software by clicking on the desktop Icon. 2. On the ENCODER PAGE click on the "+" to add an Encoder. 3. Click on the radio button for "MP3 and mp3PRO", then "OK" 4. Under "CONVERTER" tab a. Select "Medium" Quality b. Under Format select: "MP3: 20kb/s, 11.0kHz, Mono" c. In General options, CHECK the "Auto start encoder after" field. 5. Under "SERVER DETAILS" tab click: a. CLICK the radio button for "ShoutCast" b. In "Server Details" in the "Server IP" Enter: "XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX" c. In "Server Port" Enter: d. In "Password" Enter: XXXX (PaSSwoRd is case sensitive) (example "9324") (example "FEED-16") (4 groups of 5 characters) (###.###.###.###)

* Nothing else on this page matters, move on. 6. On the same page under the "Station Details" enter the following: a. In "Station name" Enter: "ScanCT.com Feed-XX" b. In "Gendre" Enter: "Scanner" c. In "Website URL" Enter: "http://ScanCT.com" * Nothing else on this page matters, move on.

7. Under "STREAM ARCHIVE" DO NOT check to box labeled "Save stream to file" *Checking this will eat up your Hard Drive space IN NO TIME. 8. Click "OK" to save all of the settings you just entered. At this point the EnCoder should log in and begin streaming. 9. On the SIMPLECAST program window click on "CONFIG" a. Under "General Options" go to "General base encoder options" and check the box for "Automatic start on load" b. Under Configuration click on "Registration Key" ENTER REGISTRATION # RECEIVED: XXXXX - XXXXX - XXXXX - XXXXX * Nothing else on this page matters. Click "OK" to SAVE Settings. 10. Next connect the AUDIO Cable from the speaker output of the scanner to either the MIC IN or AUX IN connector of the PC. 11. Select a channel with active audio such as NOAA Weather 162.55MHz and adjust the volume on the scanner until the average audio is in the yellow with some peaks in the red. * Mark the position of the Volume Control on the scanner with a pencil. 12. Set the Squelch on the scanner as needed. * Mark the position of the Squelch Control on the scanner with a pencil. At this point you should be done and you should be able to go to another PC and select your feed (FEED-XX at this point) and listen. Note: If your Stream is connecting correctly the "GREEN" SMILEY FACE should be displayed next to your feed number. If you are not streaming the "RED" SAD FACE will appear.
