Introduction to RTS
RTS Training was established in 2004 as a provider of logistics training. The company developed into new areas over the years and in 2010 opened a Forklift Training centre in Burton on Trent which was approved by RTITB as a Centre of Excellence. Since then, RTS has continued to grow its programme of courses and now offers training to many sectors including Management, Business Admin, Health and Safety and Train the Trainer.

The DCPC Scheme
DCPC was introduced in the UK in September 2009 for Professional HGV drivers and in September 2008 for bus and coach drivers. It is a qualification designed to confirm and expand the knowledge and skills of the driver throughout their working life. The DCPC is divided into what is called “periodic training”. This is 35 hours of training over a 5-year period. Every professional driver will need to complete this training in order to retain the DCPC and be legally allowed to drive professionally. The Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) was established in February 2007 to manage, on behalf of the Competent Authorities in the UK, the approval and quality assurance of centres and courses delivering Periodic Training in line with the requirements set out in the European Union (EU) Directive on Initial and Periodic Training. Only training that is approved by the “Competent Authority” is accepted as Periodic Training. JAUPT operates under a Service Level Agreement with DSA and DVA. Each driver will gain up to date knowledge during the training sessions. Knowing that all professional drivers have to undertake this training will mean that our roads will be safer in the future. Clearly define a professional competence benchmark for your business.

You can't choose whether or not to do DCPC, it's now a legal requirement, but you can choose who you do it with, what you get out of it, and how much it costs. We have been approved by JAUPT to run a number of courses. All of our team have a solid background in transport and logistics. It is our aim to use our experience to provide training that is relevant to the industry and valuable to the learner to develop their own skills. We have included into our programme “dual certification” courses to give our learners value for money. These courses will provide drivers not just with the hours towards their DCPC but also with certificates in areas of Health and Safety and First Aid. All courses can be carried out at our Training Centre in Barton under Needwood or in suitable premises throughout the UK. In line with our contractual obligations, we will ensure that hours are uploaded to the DSA database within 5 working days. Drivers can check their hours online or call DSA to ensure the upload has transpired. Once all 5 modules have been completed, DSA should send out the Drivers Card within 14 days of the upload being processed to the database. Drivers should be aware that if their details are not up to date with DSA, or they do not hold a photo driving licence, this will mean that the DCPC card will be delayed. We offer the following DCPC modules as part of our programme.
