SHORT-COURSE TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT Integrated Food Management: “Farm to Fork”

The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) Arusha on behalf of the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship & Management (NIFTEM University) of India is hereby announcing a two weeks training as part of the India Africa Forum Summit. The training will take part at the NIFTEM University, and is targeting the following groups of people that are engaged in the promotion of food processing sector from around East Africa, including;1) Middle and senior-level academicians, 2) Scientists, 3) Executives from Government departments, 4) Development banks, 5) Financial institutions, and 6) Corporate & private firms / companies. The following are the particulars of the short course training;Topic Duration Venue : Integrated Food Management - Farm to Fork : 26 February –12 March, 2014 : National Inst. of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) University Campus

Course Content The course will cover the following integrated food management areas;i Post harvest management technologies to prevent losses, ii Pack house / packing station operations, iii Storage of horticultural produce, iv Transportation of fresh horticultural products,

v Value addition of unmarketable and surplus fruits and vegetable, vi Food Quality and Safety, vii Cold storage construction mechanism, viii Management of distribution centers, ix Organizational management, x International concerns and regulations on food safety, xi Major issues related to food safety, xii State of the art analytical methodologies used for determination food safety parameters in different raw and processed food products (interpretation of result nuances involved), xiii Process of new analytical method development and validation for, Quality Systems and Practical Laboratory Works
