Mark Ervin B. Benedicto ECE5-1 SONY ERICSSON RNC 3810 Fast network roll-out Easy to find site space: thanks to the small footprint of RNC 3810, it is easy to find a place where RNC 3810 can be installed; Installation: when delivered from factory, the RNC 3810 is pre-tested and preloaded with current software (SW); Network configuration: the RNC 3810 is supported with TEMS and OSS-RC to allow fast and efficient network configuration. Efficiency Compact: the RNC 3810 provides high capacity per footprint or volume; Transmission: several ATM and IP interface types are supported; the RNC 3810 can act as traffic concentrator and switch; Radio resource management: using advanced power, admission, congestion, and quality control algorithms, the RNC 3810 minimizes the interference, guaranteeing optimal usage of the available radio spectrum. High reliability and availability Redundancy: the RNC 3810 is designed with redundancy for all hardware (HW), and has no single point of failure; Hot-repair: hardware boards can be replaced and/or added while the RNC 3810 is in operation; Soft software upgrade: corrections and upgrades can be made while in operation; Fault pin-pointing: root-cause fault pin-pointing for short restore time. Flexibility Modular product configurations: the RNC 3810 provides a modular hardware architecture where all configurations are created from a limited set of building blocks, 1-6 sub-racks (shelves) in 1-2 cabinets, using only 6 basic types of boards; Expandability: all expansions up to the maximum RNC 3810 configuration are handled without disturbing on-going traffic; Evolution: the RNC 3810 is designed for easy introduction of new technologies, new product packages based on new hardware but with the same architecture and new radio and transmission functionality; O&M access: the RNC 3810 O&M functionality is accessible from any node in the network, making the management task available for everyone everywhere (only limited to user rights); Service convenience: the same RNC 3810 HW configuration handles any service mix, i.e., changing user traffic patterns do not require changes in HW or SW configurations; SW-centric solution: new services such as HSDPA and Enhanced Uplink can be introduced without addition of new HW; Pooling: processing resources are pooled for efficient resource sharing and redundancy.

RBS 3206 The RBS 3206 is an indoor macro RBS, based on the RBS 3000 R3 hardware, and a member of the RBS 3000 family. Through the newly introduced MOCN function, the RNC can be connected to the core networks of different telecom operators, thus enhancing the network sharing function. This, in turn, helps the telecom operators in reducing costs. Advanced Solutions Promising Higher Speed for Data Services The BSC6810 uses advanced technologies, such as HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, and MBMS, to meet the requirements of different types of data service. As a newly introduced technology based on HSUPA and HSDPA, HSPA+ further improves the network performance and expands the network capacity. All-IP Platform Meeting the Varying Needs for Network Evolution Based on its all-IP platform, the BSC6810 UMTS improves the PS service performance. The interfaces support IP transmission, which provides sufficient bandwidth and cuts transmission cost. GSM/UMTS Co-Platform Ensuring Smooth Evolution

The BSC6810 shares the hardware platform with the GSM/UMTS dual-mode network controller and supports smooth evolution to the GSM/UMTS dual-mode network controller. In this way, fewer spare parts are required.
