“The faith-filled parishioners of Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Arma, in union with the Blessed Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, value tradition and prayer. We are committed to strong leadership, responsive community service, and forming caring, welcoming, intimate relationships with our fellow brothers and sisters. We seek to become a more diverse, vibrant, active church family.” Notes from the Pastor: Many of you must have already heard of the news, which is both happy and sad: Bishop Jackels is promoted to Archbishop of Dubuque, in Iowa – that’s happy to note, as he is promoted to that position. However, it is sad because that means he is leaving us comes May 30 th when he will be installed into his new archdiocese. Up to now we do not know yet who will be our next bishop. So we need to pray more for our diocese for the Holy Spirit’s guidance especially as we are awaiting for the next bishop of Wichita! Let us also continue to pray for Bishop Jackels as he moves on to his new assignment. This April 18th, I am also celebrating my 27 th year anniversary as a priest! My priesthood is not mine but a gift of God for the Christian community. So pray for me in thanksgiving to God for the gift of the priesthood. Unfortunately, we will not be having a mass and adoration here in Arma this Thursday as I will have to be in a conference at Spiritual Life Center this Thursday. My Wednesday evening mass at Saint Michael in Girard this April 17th will be offered for this intention. May God continue to bless me with His grace to persevere in this vocation! Some of you who have been to mass at Saint Michael in Girard, have observed that kids have their chance of offering their gifts, in the envelopes or cash during the offertory. There is a special envelope for kids where it is printed outside what they have done as an offering to God during the week. Aside from that, they can also offer a part of the money they received during the week, as part of their stewardship. I am planning to make that a practice here as well at Saint Joseph. This is a wonderful training opportunity for our kids. Although we don’t have as much kids as Girard, we still have to give them that opportunity. For this liturgical activity, our ushers and greeters will play an important role. They have to put the kids in order before the processional. The kids will lead the processional and bring their envelopes to the priests. The gift bearers of bread and wine follow at the very end. We will meet with Next Sunday(04/21/2013) 8:00 AM Kaylee Bogina Greg Bogina & Mike Ashbacher Tracey Bogina Linda Broyles Barbara Doue & Mary Sayre
all the ushers and greeters once we are about to implement this plan. Attention all Lectors: there is a scheduled “Workshop for Lectors” on Sunday, April 28, 2013, 4:00PM to 5:00PM at Sacred Heart Church in Fredonia. This will be a good refresher and renewal for all our lectors, and a good start for all those who have not undergone any lector’s training. Please call the parish office so we can register you for that training. The workshop will be conducted by Sr. Janice Miller, CSJ, a sister of Saint Joseph. She has been assisting in Lector worship presentations for many years in the Diocese of Crookston. If you have problem with transportation please let us know as we can certainly work on transportation arrangements. Once more I will reiterate our need as we have mentioned last weekend: we are still seeking for a volunteer office secretary who will sit at out rectory office for half a day, like every Wednesday from 9AM to noon, or any day and time at your convenience. We will train you what to do. If you are interested to offer your time and talent for this ministry please let me or any of our parish council members know. We are also in need of a volunteer musician, an organist for our 4PM mass. If you can play the organ, please let us know. Jan Harman and I will be happy to assist you so you can get started and make our 4PM mass more alive with organ music and singing for the Lord. Thank you and God bless you all! Fr. Roger
