New York University Stern School of Business
Stern Cares is a social impact organization at NYU Stern that promotes a socially responsible attitude on
campus, within the greater New York City community and in the workplace.
We provide diverse community service opportunities to students eager to stay involved in social impact
throughout college and into their careers. Our members are proactive and community
oriented individuals who place heavy emphasis on career development. As business students, we
contribute a unique skill set to tackle the challenges around us and develop our members into
sociallyminded leaders.
Popular Events:
PB&J with Bowery Mission Food Pantry
Undergraduate students work with professionals to make PB&J sandwiches to donate to Bowery Mission,
a rescue mission that assists homeless individuals in Manhattan. This event creates an opportunity for
both casual networking and CSR. We invite 510 professionals to complete ten minute rotations to
network with students. As a result, we contribute up to 500 sandwiches to the Bowery Mission.
New York Cares Day
Each semester, Stern Cares provides approximately 4060 student volunteers to revitalize the NYC public
parks and buildings. We partner with firms to paint school murals, restore garden beds, plant flowers and
trees and repair park walkways. In previous events, both professionals and students have appreciated the
opportunity to build stronger, less formal relationships while volunteering within the community.
CitymealsonWheels
Our CitymealsonWheels event enables Stern Cares members to partner with professionals to deliver
warm meals to senior citizens in NYC. We typically work with 25 students and 15 professionals from the
firm to converse with the elderly and deliver over 100 meals. Stern Cares consistently receives positive
feedback from professionals who can give back to the city while meeting serviceoriented students.
Getting Involved:
Partnerships with corporations and organizations on campus make our events possible. We welcome firms
to volunteer alongside our students, share their company’s social impact programs, and collaborate in
other corporate social responsibility initiatives. Each semester, we hold a Social Impact Career Panel for
both corporate and nonprofit professionals. We also encourage other organizations to cosponsor events
and join our service programs.
