Setting SNMP Community Strings
SNMP community strings authenticate access to cable modem MIB objects and function as passwords to limit
access. Before you can access a cable modem, the community string issued from StormWatch ΙΙ diagnostics
must match those of the cable modem in the cable system.
1 From the Actions menu, choose Set community strings to display the Read and Read-Write

choices. The Read string is adequate for all tabs except the Configure tab.
The SNMP community strings may be pre-configured using a customized stormwatch.ini file
located either on the CD-ROM or on a separate floppy disk. To be sure, look at the input box that
appears after selecting Read or Read-Write. If asterisks (*****) are in the box, the community
strings are already set. Do not overwrite these or delete them or you will not be able to contact
and query the cable modem. If this should occur, stop and restart StormWatch to restore the preconfigured community strings.

2 Select Read or Read-Write.

The Read-Write access community string must be set correctly (matching the MSO) for settings
under the Configure window to function properly.
3 Type the SNMP community string and click OK.

of use of the Licensed Program or Documentation, and Licensee has not remedied this failure to the reasonable satisfaction of Licensor
within five (5) days after Licensor provides written notice to Licensee of same, (b) if Licensee breaches any other provision of this License
and fails to remedy such default to the reasonable satisfaction of Licensor within thirty (30) days after Licensor provides written notice to
Licensee of same, (c) if Licensee breaches its obligations of confidentiality under this License or any other agreement with Licensor and
Licensee has not immediately remedied the breach to the reasonable satisfaction of Licensor, (d) upon the filing of a voluntary petition in
bankruptcy or an assignment for the benefit of creditors by Licensee, or the filing against Licensee of an involuntary petition in bankruptcy
unless such petition is dismissed within 90 days or (e) upon not less than sixty (60) days prior written notice of Licensor. Upon termination
of this Agreement, Licensee shall cease using the Licensed Program and Documentation, delete all copies of the Licensed Program from
the Designated Equipment and return to Licensor all papers and materials in respect of the Licensed Program, including the Confidential
