MARIJUANA - FACTS

Marijuana (Cannabis sativa) is grown in the United States , Mexico , Canada , South America and Asia , and in other parts of the world. Schedule I: No medical use It’s the chemical THC in marijuana which makes people high. The more THC, the higher the marijuana’s potency. Marijuana smokers experience the same health problems as tobacco smokers.

PRESCRIPTION & OTC DRUG ABUSE
• Abuse of prescription and overthe-counter drugs have become a more serious problem than street drugs.
• Why might this be?

Don't be fooled: prescription drugs are not something to fool around with!
• Even though prescription drugs are legal, selling and using drugs that you did not get through a legitimate prescription is illegal.

COMMON DRUG OFFENSES
Minor in Possession of Tobacco
• No minor shall possess any cigarettes or tobacco products.

Possession of drug paraphernalia

• A person commits possession of drug paraphernalia if he possesses drug paraphernalia and knows or reasonably should know that the drug paraphernalia could be used under circumstances in violation of the laws of this state.

COMMON DRUG OFFENSES
Possession of a Marijuana– 18-18-406(3)(a) • Any person who possesses, openly and publicly displays, consumes or uses marijuana. Abusing Toxic Vapors– 18-18-412
• No person shall knowingly smell or inhale the fumes of toxic vapors for the purpose of causing a condition of euphoria, excitement, exhilaration, stupefaction, or dulled senses of the nervous system. • No person shall knowingly possess, buy, use or aid any other person to use any such substance for the purposes described above.

COMMON DRUG OFFENSES
• Any person who uses any controlled substance, except when it is dispensed by or under the direction of a person licensed or authorized by law to prescribe, administer, or dispense such controlled substance for bona fide medical needs.

Unlawful use of a controlled substance–

• It is unlawful for any person knowingly to manufacture, dispense, sell, distribute, possess, or to possess with intent to manufacture, dispense, sell, or distribute a controlled substance. • Or possess one or more chemicals or supplies or equipment with intent to manufacture a controlled substance.
