Education Background
Guoying Wang, a plant molecular geneticist by training, received his BSc degree in Agronomy
(1981) from Shanxi Agricultural University, Shanxi, China; his MS degree in Agronomy (1984) from
the Northwestern Agricultural University, Shaanxi, China; and his PhD in Agronomy (1991) from the
Northwestern Agricultural University, Shaanxi, Chin.
Research Area
Maize molecular genetics and biotechnology.
Work Experiences
2006.09-- Principal Investigator and group leader of the Maize Molecular Genetics. Heis now
responsible for several national key research projects on maize biotechnology and molecular genetics,
including projects fromthe National Basic Research Program of China (973), the key project from the
National Science Foundation of China and theNational Major Project for Transgenic Organism Breeding.
1999.01-2006.08 He was a professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology,
China Agricultural University; used to be the Department Chairman and worked as the group leader of
the Maize Molecular Genetics.
1993.08-1998.12 He was an associate professor working on maize biotechnologyin the
Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, China Agricultural University.
1991.09-1993.07 postdoc research associate working on maize biotechnology in the State Key
Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology, , China Agricultural University.
1985.01-1987.08 teaching assistant and lecturer in the Department of Horticulture, the
