Desktop virtualization is a software technology that separates desktop environment and the softwares associated with it. Desktop virtualization is synonymous to application virtualization. Virtual Desktop Infrastructure(VDI) is a service that hosts desktop environments on remote servers. On the other hand Remote Desktop Virtualization can also be provided via cloud technology.This approach is referred as Desktop as a Service(DaaS). This article describes the major difference between VDI and DaaS.
