The Stereotypical Witch Due to the influence of movies like The Craft one common image of the urban rogu e occultist we have come to recognize is the stereotypical witch. Considered a c rossbreed between a charlatan and a rogue occultist, the stereotypical witch is a disgrace to real witches and followers of witchcraft. A stereotypical witch differs from an actual witch or Wiccan for they can be spo tted an entire mile away. While an authentic Wiccan will be silent and rather se cretive about their practices, the stereotypical witch will boast of their knowl edge and of their being well-versed in secrets of witchcraft. Furthermore, while a true witch will in all probability dress like everyone else, the stereotypica l witch will tend to don black clothing from head to toe even on the hottest day s of the year just to convince others that they are part of a secret and mystica l order known only to a few. Such people are usually scoffed at by any real cove n of witches. Between an urban and rural rogue occultist, the former can be considered easier to deal simply because their practices usually fall within the mainstream. By kn owing the tradition of the urban rogue occultist, one already has the means to c ounter any form of magickal/ psychic attack that they send. The rural rogue occu ltist though is usually trickier due to the secrecy of their methods. This usual ly requires the Occult Investigator to wait for the rural rogue occultist to lau nch their attack in order to properly respond. This is not to say that there are no solutions to rural attacks, but references and materials on urban occultism a re more abundant. It’s very much like dealing with a disease which has clear docum entation as compared to an unknown virus that triggers similar symptoms. 13 14 It would be safe, then, to say that the Occult Investigator will need a wide arr ay of skills in their practice of occultism as well as in transpersonal psycholo gy in order to properly deal with victims of any forms of occult practice abuse. The most necessary skill for any Occult Investigator is to understand the basic dynamics of Energy in the field of the Occult (see chapter 2).
