The Wall Street Journal The Unemployment rises in every state Connor Dougherty

The unemployment rate increased again in December .2009. The worst part of the country that has been losing jobs is the West and the Midwest, mostly in the housing and manufacturing sections. The Northeast states have been losing jobs aswell but not in the level of the Midwest and the West. The widespread rise in joblessness has led to steep state budget cuts and exhausted state unemployment resources. President Obama passed a bill that it will give every state financial aid. The amount of money that is predicted is $90 billion for the next two fiscal years. Now the problem that America is facing is that the unemployment rate is still increasing in the Southern states, mostly the manufacturing states. Nevada's unemployment rate increased one percentage point to 9.1% between November and December. Florida's rose 0.7 percentage point to 8.1%. California's jobless rate increased 0.9 percentage point to 9.3%.
