I. The Theology of the Body: Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Consummation. This talk sets out the rich meaning of Catholic teaching that the human body shares in the dignity of the image of God. II. The Theology of the Body and the Moral Life in Christ. In what sense does the moral law remain God's will for the Christian when he has been called to freedom in Christ (Galatians 5: 1, 13; 2 Cor 3:17)? In other words, how does the Theology of the Body overcome the dilemma between freedom and law? III. The Theology of the Body and Marriage. Why is complementary sexual differentiation between man and woman necessary for understanding the nature of marriage and the Church's sacramental theology of marriage?

Eduardo J. Echeverria is Professor of Philosophy and Theology in the Graduate School of Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit, Michigan. He is a noted author and speaker, who received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Free University, Amsterdam, and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.) from the University of St. Thomas, Rome. He is the author of Dialogue of Love, Confessions of an Evangelical Catholic Ecumenist (2010), and “In the Beginning. . .” A Theology of the Body (2011).
