Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries among Top 100 Women-Led Businesses
Led by CEO Joanne Hilferty, Goodwill comes in at 25 on list
BOSTON (October 24, 2014) – Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries came in 25th in a ranking
of the Top 100 Women-Led Businesses sponsored by The Boston Globe Magazine and The
Commonwealth Institute.
The rankings are based on multiple components, including revenue or operating budget,
workplace and management diversity, innovation, and number of full-time employees in
Massachusetts. This is the first year nonprofits have been eligible.
“Goodwill would not be on this list if not for the hard work and dedication of our team,” said
Joanne K. Hilferty, president and CEO of Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries. “Staff, board
members, volunteers – all are committed to our mission of helping individuals achieve
independence and dignity through work.”
Goodwill’s job training programs and career services help individuals with barriers to
employment find work. Goodwill runs social enterprises, including a retail operation supported
by community donations.
The 100 organizations were honored at a breakfast at the Seaport Boston Hotel on Oct. 24. The
100 organizations had total revenue of $73 billion last year. The year’s top honoree was Boston
Children’s Hospital, led by president and CEO Sandra Fenwick.
