Top Ten Canary Wharf NEEDS AN INTRO OF AROUND TWO SHORT PARAGRAPHS FILLED WITH SEARCH ENGINE FRIENDLY WORDS The Parlour Bar The hanging chairs and outdoor terraces overlooking Canada Square can be spotted from afar as the vintage look is completed with a gourmet menu and flatbread boards featuring delicacies like Peking duck and smoked salmon. The menu boasts over 40 vintage wines sold by the glass although the more adventurous ‘wine flight’ grouping three varieties together are more popular. Cocktails keep the calories at bay with their skinny versions. Retreat in the circular booth or intimate wine room for a palaver at the Parlour.

Gaucho Buenos Aires has a reputation for shining hospitality and with the welcoming staff at this glamorous location, it should be a prime choice this summer. Argentine steak cuts are cooked on order for the table or brought to your door with its popular delivery service. Traditional dishes are cooked in onion, chilli and peppers with tall glass servings of Latin American grappas and rum based cocktails to quench that summer thirst. Don’t miss out on a touch of South American glamour and spot a star or two at this celebrity hangout.

Bella Vista A versatile restaurant, the Bella Vista caters for businesses, couples and families alike. This rustic living room dining area has an older feel and a separate function room features Victorian windows for spectacular views. Pasta, soups and risottos can be served as starters or mains and a grill selection offers a fine selection of cuts for under £20. Enjoy an Italian red or white and for the connoisseur, fine wine deals of £50 classic bottles are available.

Leon The Leon living room offers a cosy dimmed lighting setting in the Wharf. Special dishes are served up each day with soup and big dish specials offering tasty treats like goulash and curry. The playlist is also something to note with an eclectic mix of music from the last fifty years to accompany meals. Dishes are made to share with plates served on boards to encourage tasters from all diners around the table. Oh, and enjoy the family pics while looking around the restaurant too.

Canteen The theme is simple and honest and runs through Canteen’s food, furniture and bones. The wooden chairs and tables adds a clean and crisp aura to the dining area with contrasting primary colours running down chair legs, ceiling borders and the light fittings to add a certain je ne sais quoi. Check the menu for an all day breakfast, snack selection and cake options and for a fast feed, the quick

service menu offers soup, toast and main meats and mash as takeout. Canteentastic.

Wahaca For traditional market eating, try this straight-talking, no nonsense Mexican way. A no bookings policy sees diners seated when they arrive and dishes plonked on tables as they are made. Food is freshly prepared with Baja (Fish taco), and smoked herring tostado white meat favourites. For daring diners, try the Day Of The Dead cocktail with tequila, wine, lime and pineapple juice. The restaurant’s tone is cosy as the fresh and funky decor sees Mexican street art on the walls, to make for a complete Wahaca experience. Tiffinbites Inspired by the Mumbai Tiffin-Wallah’s (delivery boys that would bring lunches to office workers in traditional metallic dishes), Tiffinbites has three ready to serve counters as the almost buffet like restaurant is ideal for lunch time nibbles with a tiffin box or lite bites menu for those on the run. By night, the place is transformed into an authentic eatery with classic slow cooked tandoori and biryanis specials and two TVs for World Cup viewing. Use the three tier spice rating to get the right zing and wash it all down with a lassi or two.

Jamie’s Italian Enjoy al fresco inside as Jamie’s Italian brings a continental garden in to the restaurant. The entrance encapsulates a summer patio feel as matching green chairs and tables dotted around the dining room are complemented by dangling pepper chains and artistic pasta on the brick wall pillars. Mixed platters are a favourite as a sharing starter and a primary Italian menu together with a secondary hot brick selection make for tasty choosing. No bookings are taken so arrive before 7pm to ensure a table.

Smollenskys Smollensky’s gorgeous outdoor terrace is a popular spot for summer cocktails, especially during the weekday 7-9pm happy hour. The spacious area hosts 100 standing for the biggest after-drinks work party in town or the equally sized dark oak interior offers a quieter affair for dates or a drink. Doubling up as a restaurant with a New York theme accompanying its American menu, Sundays sees live music added to the mix to complete that savvy experience at Smollensky’s.

Moshi Moshi As far as supermarket eateries go, this offers the best in Japanese fare. A smaller venue tucked in the local Waitrose, the food is seasonal to represent the changing culinary trends in the Far East with a range of ‘zensai’ dishes including Korean and vegetarian offerings too. Raw is the motto as the conveyor-belt led sushi bar is a simple and fresh approach to enjoy rolls, sashimi and spider crabs. Takeaway, lunch or intimate dinner, make it Moshi.
