TRADITIONAL BLEPHAROPLASTY :
may be functional, cosmetic or both Indications: 1. Dermatochalasia – redundant & lax eyelid skin and muscle 2. Steatoblepharon - herniation of the orbital fat in the upper or lower eyelids Eyelid Anatomy:

General Pre-operative Evaluation *usual cc: droopy or sad eyes 1. Evaluate expectations and psychological well-being of the patient. 2. Discuss all current medical conditions, and address accordingly (HPN, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, thyroid abnormalities, abnormal coagulation) ; Blepharoplasty is an ELECTIVE PROCEDURE. 3. Mild dry eyes and previous eye surgery (ie: LASIK) are concerning but not contraindications for bleph. Seek ophthalmologic evaluation and clearance. 4. Elicit history of allergies. 5. Document current medications including supplements. Aspirin, with clearance from the prescribing doctor, ideally should be discontinued 2 wks before surgery. 6.
